Objective:The purpose of this study is to introduce Chinese version of the Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire(DSMQ)by localization steps, including translation, back translation, cultural adjustment, and reliability and validity test. Methods:First, obtaining the authorization from Dr.Schmitt.In strict accordance with the procedure of the sinicization of the scale, the two literal translation and back-translation method is adopted to translate and back translate, and the cultural adjustment is carried out according to the expert advice and the results of the pre experiment, and a preliminary version of the Chinese version DSMQ is formed.A total of 382 hospitalized diabetics in two tertiary hospitals were selected. They were investigated by the general demographic data questionnaire, the Chinese version of DSMQ and the Diabetes Self-CareActivity Questionnaire(SDSCA).The critical ratio method(t test)and correlation coefficient method for scale item analysis to delete selected entries;through exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis to evaluate the construct validity of the scale, with SDSCA as the calibration verification of DSMQ criterion validity, and the HbA1c value to verify the packet scale known group validity;using Cronbach'alpha coefficient and split half reliability evaluation scale reliability.Results:(1)The result of item analysis showed that decisive value of all items were 6.116~15.128,which were all greater than 3.The scores of the two groups in the same item were statistically different(P<0.05).The correlation coefficient method further showed that the correlation coefficient between all items and the total score was 0.320~0.655(all P<0.05).(2)Five common factors were extracted from exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 67.572%.The load of each factor was 0.430 to 0.917(P>0.40).Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the chi square value and freedom ratio(?~2/df)was1.973<3,comparative fit index(CFI)was 0.941>0.90,the goodness of fit index(GFI)was0.908>0.90,and the root mean square error estimation(RMSEA)was 0.070<0.80.The five factor structure is more suitable for the Chinese version of DSMQ.(3)The correlation coefficient between SDSCA and Chinese version DSMQ was 0.587(P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient of the relative dimension of the two scales was 0.221~0.645(P<0.01),which indicated that it had good calibration validity.Secondly, the scores of DSMQ in patients with different glycemic control outcomes were different.(4)The total scale Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.764,the Cronbach's alpha of five dimensions ranged from 0.651 to0.899,and the split half reliability was 0.864,which indicated the scale reliability coefficient was acceptable.(5)The correlation coefficient of the total score of DSMQ and HbA1c was2.703(P<0.05),which was better than the correlation coefficient of SDSCA and HbA1cConclusion:Chinese version of DSMQ contains 5 dimensions, respectively prescribed medication(2items),self monitoring of blood glucose(3 items),diet control(4 items),physical exercise(3items)and follow-up(3 items). All indicators of the scale reached the acceptable range ofpsychometrics and had a certain correlation with the outcome of glycemic control, which could effectively assess the status of self-management of diabetic patients in China.
