Objective To explore the independent risk factors of arrhythmia after pneumonectomy and their effects on prognosis. Methods The research included 358 cases of primary bronchogenic carcinoma meeting the study criteria. Results The total incidence of postoperative arrhythmia was 16.2%(58 of 358).Multivariable logistic analysis identified increasing age(?60 years),history of coronary heart disease, the fluid volume(?500ml)(in the first 24 hours after the surgery),mediastinal lymph node metastasis as independent risk factors of postoperative arrhythmia.Postoperative arrhythmias were significantly associated with complications such as postoperative pneumonia, severe pneumonia, respiratory failure, and acute respiratory distress syndrome.Postoperative arrhythmias significantly prolonged ICU stays and hospitalization and increased mortality. Conclusion Arrhythmia is one of the common postoperative complications after pneumonectomy. The etiology and specific pathogenesis of postoperative arrhythmia are not clearly elucidated. The risk factors of arrhythmia are complex as well as various, and are closely related to multiple factors in the perioperative period.
