Objective:To investigate the risk factors of development of necrotizing enterocolitis(NEC)in neonates with sepsis. Methods:Septic neonates charged in Neonatal Diagnosis and Treatment Center of Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2010 to April 2016 were enrolled in this study. The septic neonates with proven NEC(Bell's stage?II)were enrolled into NEC group and were matched with twofold neonates without NEC as control group. The potential risk factors of NEC in neonates with sepsis were evaluated by univariate analyses and logistic regression analysis. Results:During this study, there are 610 septic neonates,of whom 78acquired NEC.And only 66 cases were matched successfully.Univariate analyses indicated higher rate of anemia(71.2%vs 37.9%,?~2=19.564,P=0.000)and hypoalbuminemia(44.1%vs 23.8%,?~2=9.124,P=0.003)in NEC group comparison to control group.Conditional logistic regression analysis revealed significant difference in the rate of anemia(?=1.32,OR:3.74,95%CI:1.92-7.27,P=0.000)andhypoalbuminemia(?=0.68,OR:1.98,95%CI:1.03-3.78,P=0.039)between groups.Septic neonates combined with moderate or more serious anemia were susceptible to NEC than those without or with mild anemia[57.6(38/66)vs.42.4(28/132),?~2=7.473,P=0.006].Conclusion:Anemia and hypoalbuminemia were independent risk factors of development of NEC in infants with sepsis.Septic neonates with moderate or more serious anemia were more likely to susceptible to NEC.
