Carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS)is the most common peripheral neuropathy with a increasing rate of incidence.Definite diagnosis can be made through results of typical clinical manifestations, signs and auxiliary examinations. In recent years, ultrasound examination has aroused popularity because of its noninvasive nature and exploring analysis of the potential pathogeny. The non-surgical treatments of patients with mild CTS mainly include splinting, local drug injection, oral medication and physical therapy.Patients with moderate-to-severe CTS and those who have failed conservative treatment should choose surgical treatment. The surgical modality include open carpal tunnel release(OCTR),endoscopic carpal tunnel release(ECTR)and minimally invasive surgery.Surgical treatment of CTS is effective, but attention must be paid to complications and rehabilitation. |
