Objective :To evaluate the efficacy and side effects of cyclosporine(CsA)on severe ulcerative colitis.Methods :Six patients with severe UC were selected,all of them were failed to make an adequate response to steroid,3 patients were treated with infliximab ineffective or relapse after remission,the above 6 patients were received cyclosporine salvage treatment.The clinical symptoms and Mayo score of ciclosporin for 3,7,and 14 days were observed,analysis of side effects of drugs,and the patients were followed up for 3~12 months.Results:The symptoms began to improve in the 3rd day after CsA treatment.By the 14 th day,the abdominal pain was significantly relieved in 4 patients,bowel movements and hematochezia decreased,Mayo score was significantly reduced;No obvious relief of abdominal pain in 2 patients,bowel movements,hematochezia and Mayo score decreased slightly.Of the 6 patients,2 had mild gastrointestinal malaise,and 1 had stopped taking oral CsA for lower limb circulation disorder.During the follow-up of 6 patients,2 of the remission patients had relapsed in 4 cases,and 1 of the recurrent patients received surgery.Conclusion:CsA has been shown to be effective in 50%(2/4)patients with severe UC;long term recurrence was 50%(2/4);There were few serious side effects when the blood concentration of CsA was no higher than 255ng/ml. |
