Study On The Association Between Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorders And Serum Anti-aquaporin-4 Antibody Titers

Objective: To investigate the relationship between the degree of visual impairment,length of spinal cord lesion,degree of dyskinesia and serum anti-aquaporin-4 antibody titers in patients with NMOSD.Methods: 1.The visual acuity of patients with optic neuritis is examined by the international standard visual acuity chart and give a continuous score.2.6 level measurement of the the UK Medical Research Council was used to measure the muscle strength in patients with acute myelitis.3.AQP4-Ab assay: indirect immunofluorescence assay based on stable expression of AQP4 cells was used to detect the level of AQP4-Ab in serum,and the highest dilution multiple was used as the titer of serum AQP4-Ab.4.Magnetic resonance imaging: using Germany Siemens 3.0 T magnetic resonance imaging system.5.Spss22.0 statistical software was used and linear regression analysis was used.Results: 1.Negative correlation between the visual acuity scores of NMOSD patients and serum AQP4-Ab titers(R =-0.648,P < 0.0001),the linear regression equation is y = 3.548-0.007x(y is the visual score,x is the titers of serum AQP4-Ab,x ranges from 10 to 320).2.Positive correlation between the number of spinal cord lesions of NMOSD patients and serum AQP4-Ab titers(R = 0.788,P < 0.0001),the linear regression equation is y = 3.603 + 0.009x(y is the number of spinal cord lesions,x is the titers of serum AQP4-Ab,x ranges from 10 to 320).3.Negative correlation between the MRC series of muscle strength of NMOSD patients and serum AQP4-Ab titers(R =-0.818,P < 0.0001),the linear regression equation is y = 3.733-0.11x(y is the MRC series of muscle strength,x is the titers of serum AQP4-Ab,x ranges from 10 to 320).Conclusion: 1.Negative correlation between the visual acuity and serum AQP4-Ab titers(ranges from 1:10 to 1: 320)of NMOSD patients,the higher serum antiaquaporin-4 antibody titers is,the more serious the visual acuity.2.Positive correlation between the length of spinal cord lesion and serum AQP4-Ab titers(ranges from 1:10 to 1: 320)of NMOSD patients,the higher serum anti-aquaporin-4 antibody titers is,the longer the spinal cord lesion.3.Negative correlation between the muscle strength and serum AQP4-Ab titers(ranges from 1:10 to 1: 320)of NMOSD patients,the higher serum anti-aquaporin-4 antibody titers is,the worse the muscle strength.
