Objective:This study was aimed to investigate the relationship between serum adiponectin(APN)levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with different Body Mass Index(BMI)values, and to analyze the association between BMI and insulin resistance.Methods:99 T2DM patients in Shihezi community from January 2015 to December 2015 were selected as the subjects, the patients were divided into group A(BMI=24kg/m~2),group B(24kg/m~2<BMI<28kg/m~2)and group C(BMI=28kg/m~2).Height,weight,blood pressure(BP),waistline and hipline of all the subjects were measured.Plasma adiponectin was tested with Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Blood samples of subjects were examined for blood lipid(TC,TG,LDL-C,HDL-C)glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),plasma adiponectin, fasting blood glucose(FBG)and insulin(FINS).Moreover, body mass index(BMI),waist hip ratio(WHR),home-stasis model assessment of insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)and Pancreatic?cell function index(HOMA-?)were calculated. Those indexes were compared among various test groups and the correlation between plasma adiponectin and those indexes was further evaluated in the study.Results:1.With the increase of BMI index of patients, serum APN concentration decreased in A group,B group and C group. The serum APN concentrations in group A,group B and group C were 1.69±0.29 mg/L,1.08±0.26 mg/L and 0.98±0.18 mg/L,respectively.The differences were statistically significant(F=78.273,p<0.05).2.There was no significant difference between the 3 groups in the temporal and spatial blood glucose concentration(p>0.05).B group of patients with FINS,HOMA-IR and HOMA-?levels were significantly higher than that of A group, the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05);C group of patients with FINS,HOMA-IR and HOMA-levels were significantly higher than that of A group and B group, the differences were statistically significant(p<0.05).3.The results showed that APN was negatively correlated with BMI,Hb A1c,WHR,FINS,HOMA-IR and TG,and positively correlated with HDL-C,and no correlation with TC and LDL-C.Conclusion:The serum concentration of APN decreases with the increase of BMI in patients with diabetes. With the increase of BMI value in patients with type 2 diabetes, the higher the degree of insulin resistance.
