Aim: Observe the change and significance of liver volume(LV)after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)in patients with liver cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Methods : In this study,96 patients with cirrhosis who underwent TIPS were included.Computed tomography(CT)was used to calculate preoperative and postoperative liver volume. The volume of liver and clinical data were compared before and after surgery.Thereafter, the patients were divided into two groups: the liver volume reduction group and the liver volume increase group, and the clinical data of the two groups were compared. Results : LV was increased in 28 patients with liver cirrhosis after TIPS,and mainly non-viral liver disease. We observed that the ascites condition after TIPS could be improved, but the bilirubin, albumin, and prothrombin times deteriorated, and the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy increased.Through comparative analysis,it was found that there was no significant reduction in LV after TIPS in patients withnon-viral liver disease, the same situation also occurs in patients with smaller diameter(7 or 8 mm))stent. In addition, there was no negative correlation between liver volume and time after TIPS.Comparing the clinical data of the LV augmentation group and the reduction group,it was found that in patients with non-viral liver disease and patients with 7 or 8mm diameter stents, there was a tendency for LV to increase after TIPS.Conclusion:About 30% of patients with cirrhosis have increased LV after TIPS,especially in non-viral liver disease and patients with 7 or 8 mm diameter stents...
