Microsurgical Treatment Of Cavernous Sinus Hemangiomas

Objective To discuss the microsurgical treatment of cavernous sinushemangiomas and conclude the clinical experience.Methods Fifteen cases admitted to The First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University between January 2009 and December 2017 that underwent surgery for cavernous sinus hemangiomas were retro-reviewed.Results Cavernous sinus hemangiomas features marked hyperintensity on T2 weighted images and strong enhancement on contrast-enhanced imaging on MRI.Craniotomy by modified pterional epidural approach was performed on all cases,assisting with neurophysiological monitoring and neuroendoscope.Total resection on thirteen and subtotal resection on two cases were achieved.Conclusion Craniotomy by modified pterional epidural approach was an ideal operation approach.Intraoperative application of the principle of extracorporeal bloc resection combined with electrophysiological monitoring,neuroendoscope and autologous blood transfusion can achieve good surgical results.
