Hydrocephalus(HCP)is a common clinical complication in many complications of subarachnoid hemorrhage. It not only increases the patient's economic burden, increases the unnecessary medical investment, but also reduces the patient's daily living ability. It can cause serious neurological dysfunction, affect the prognosis of patients,so that further deterioration of the condition. At the same time, the pathogenesis of this disease is complex, the clinical manifestations are diverse, the early diagnosis and treatment is more difficult,so there is still no unified understanding of its prevention and treatment measures.Inflammation, apoptosis, autophagy, and oxidative stress are reported to be important causes of HCP.Known molecules including transforming growth factor, matrix metalloproteinase and iron eventually lead to fibrosis and obstruction of HCP.There are many risk factors for hydrocephalus after SAH,and various reports vary.Potential therapeutic drugs for HCP are still in preclinical status, and the application of lumbar cistern, external brain drainage and waist wear can treat HCP urgently and slow down the occurrence of HCP.Although various surgical procedures, including V-P shunting,L-P shunting and lamina terminalis fenestration risks vary, surgical treatment is still the most common and effective treatment.HCP is still a disease that can not be ignored,Even with various solutions, the medical community is still trying to understand and solve the reasons why and how these HCP patients develop so as to improve the prognosis of these patients. This paper reviewed the research progress of HCP after SAH,and discussed the etiology, clinical manifestation, influencing factors, diagnosis and treatment progress of HCP after SAH.
