Investigation On Disease Burden Of Echinococcosis In High Endemicity Areas Of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Echinococcosis is a kind of zoonocotic parasitic disease,which has brought great harm to the health of the population and the development of animal husbandry.Echinococcosis is globally distributed,base on WHO data in 2010,there were a total of 18235 cases(95%CI,11900-28200)who are newly reported as alveolar echinococcosis annually in the world,about 91%of them were from China.In 2015,it was estimated that 19.3 thousand cases died of echinococcosis,and about 871 thousand disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)was lost in the world,and it was predicted that about 3 billion of US dollars lost in association with the treatment of cystic echinococcosis and the loss of animal husbandry at the same time.Echinococcosis early infection is asymptomatic latent,which is often discovered when the disease becomes complicated stage.Echinococcosis significantly impacted on the quality of life of patients,such as the rupture of its cyst will cause anaphylactic shock,and the patient will die of delayed treatment.This investigation was carried out on regression analysis of death monitoring data at the country level of China,and selected Shiqu County as one of the high endemicity areas of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to assess the quality of life of previous patients and the current case so that the disability weight(Dw)of echinococcosis was estimated and the burden of disease in DALYs for the two types of echinococcosis in Shiqu County was estimated.The results of the investigation were as follows:(1)in 2008-2016,the death cases of echinococcosis in China were distributed nationwide(at provincial level),and Qinghai and Sichuan ranked as the top two highest in number of total deaths,accounting for 43.05%of the total deaths(158/367);(2)in Shiqu County of Qing-Tibetan Plateau,the Dw of two types of echinococcosis is 0.32 in female,and 0.36 in male,of which Dw is 0.3 in female and 0.35 in male for the cystic echinococcosis,as well as 0.35 in female and 0.38 in males for alveolar echinococcosis;(3)the total burden of the disease in DALYs from Shiqu County has significantly decreased after implementation of interventions from 122.83/1000 people in 2007 to 16.97/1000 people in 2016.In conclusion the investigation that the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is the main distribution area of the death cases of echinococcosis in China,and two types echinococcosis of its key area(Shiqu county)in 2016 compared with in 2007,the disability-adjusted life years(DALYs)has declined significantly,but years of living with disability,(YLDs rate)is still higher than the global burden of disease(GBD 2016).
