Objectives:Screening for the incidence of sarcopenia in patients with maintenance hemodialysis(MHD)to investigate the effect of sarcopenia on the quality of life of MHD patients, observe the sarcopenia and quality of life of MHD patients after oral administration of nutritional supplements influences. Methods:Selected 77 cases of dialysis patients undergoing hemodialysis for 3 months or more in Yunnan Nephrology Hospital and the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from February 2017 to August 2017 as the study object. Before and after treatment, the Bioelectric Impedance Analysis method was used to measure the muscle mass, the Usual Gait Speed was used to evaluate the muscle function, the grip strength was measured to assess muscle strength, and the diagnosis was made according to the European Working Group On Sarcopenia in Older People(EWGSOP).The criteria were divided into 3 groups:no sarcopenia(without muscle mass loss),presarcopenia(with only reduced muscle mass),sarcopenia(with reduced muscle mass, reduced muscle strength with or without reduced muscle function));SF-36 scale for quality of life survey.Oral nutritional supplements(250 kcal of energy per serving, and 10 g of protein per serving)were given during each dialysis treatment for 3 months.Results:1.A total of 77 MHD patients were enrolled in the study, including 50 males(64.9%)and 27 females(35.1%).The average age was 46.56±13.23 years and the average dialysis age was 60(35-89)months.In the course of oral nutritional supplementation. The primary disease was 42 cases of chronic nephritis(54.5%),Purpura nephritis 1 case(1.3%),2 cases of polycystic kidney disease(2.6%),9 cases of diabetic nephropathy(11.7%),11 cases of hypertensive nephropathy(14.3%)and 2 cases of obstructive nephropathy(2.6%),interstitial nephritis 2 cases(2.6%),unexplained 8 cases(10.4%);2.Of the 77 patients enrolled, the incidence of disease was 51.9%(40/77).There were 37 cases(48.1%)in the sarcopenia group,19 cases(24.7%)in the presarcopenia group, and 21 cases(27.2%)in the sarcopenia group. The incidence rate of males was 78.0%(39/50)higher than that of females 3.7%(1/27),and the difference was statistically significant(X2=6.870,P<0.01);3.After comparing the quality of life of the three groups of patients without sarcopenia, presarcopenia, and sarcopenia. The differences in physical function(PF),body pain(BP),general health(GH),and physical health(PH)scores were statistically significant in the three groups(P<0.05).4.The pace is positively related to physical function(PF),physiological health(PH),and SF-36 total score. The grip strength is positively related to physical function(PF),body pain(BP),physical health(PH),and SF-36 total score. There was a positive correlation between skeletal muscle mass index and mental health(MH),both statistically significant(P<0.05);5.After treatment with oral nutritional supplements,,the pace and skeletal muscle mass index of MHD patients improved compared with before(P<0.05);grip strength was not statistically different(P>0.05).After treatment with oral nutritional supplements, the role physical(RP),physical health(PH),and SF-36 total scores increased in MHD patients,(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The incidence of sarcopenia in maintenance hemodialysis patients was 51.9%.The patients were divided into two groups according to gender. The incidence rate of males was higher than that of females.2.Sarcopenia affects the quality of life of maintenance hemodialysis patients, mainly affect physical function(PF),body pain(BP),general health(GH),and physical health(PH);3.After nutritional intervention with oral nutritional supplements, the maintenance of hemodialysis patients was less severe than before, and the quality of life was higher than before.
