Objective:To investigate the effects of atorvastatin on serum lipopolysaccharide(LPS),tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-?),interleukin-6(IL-6),fasting blood glucose(FPG)and 2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPG)in patients with type 2 diabetes(T2DM).Methods:Forty T2DM patients(diagnosed according to the 2013 guidelines for the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes in China)who met the inclusion criteria were selected from the department of geriatrics and endocrinology of the second affiliated hospital of Hunan Normal University from may to November 2017.They were divided into routine treatment group(routine group,n=20)and atorvastatin treatment group(AT group,n=20).At the same time,20 healthy subjects were selected as the control group(health group). The names, age, sex and body mass index of disease of all subjects were recorded in detail.Routine group was given healthy lifestyle guidance, blood sugar reduction and basic clinical intervention.AT group was given atorvastatin(10 mg,oral administration,qn,12 weeks)on the basis of routine treatment.Elbow venous blood was taken before treatment and 12 weeks after treatment in the routine group and AT group respectively, then healthy group taken it on the day of physical examination.2hPG blood samples were taken 2 hours after meal, and the rest were taken in the morning with empty stomach resting state. The concentrations of LPS,TNF-a,IL-6,FPG and 2hPG in serum were detected.Collect and collate data for comparison.Results:(1)There was no significant difference in general data between the routine group,AT group and health group.(2)Before treatment, the concentrations of LPS,TNF-?,IL-6 in serum of routine group and AT group were significantly higher than those of healthy group. The concentrations of FPG and 2hPG in serum of routine group,AT group and healthy group were not significantly different.(3)After 12 weeks of treatment, the concentrations of LPS,TNF-a and IL-6 in serum of the routine group and AT group decreased compared with those before treatment.there was statistically significant difference between the two groups before and after treatment. After treatment, the decrease of AT group was more significant than that of the conventional group, and there was statistically significant difference between the two groups.(4)After 12 weeks of treatment, the concentrations of FPG and 2hPG in routine group and AT group showed no significant difference compared with those in pre-treatment group, and there was no significant difference between the concentrations of FPG and 2hPG in routine group and AT group after treatment.(5)The levels of LPS were positively correlated with the levels of TNF-a and IL-6 in the serum of the routine group and AT group before and after 12 weeks of treatment and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion:Atorvastatin can reduce LPS levels in T2DM patients, intervening the expression of serum inflammatory factors TNF-a and IL-6,and reduce inflammatory response.
