| Aim:Inflammation plays an important role in the progression of malignant tumors. This study was to investigate the relationship between preoperative neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio(NLR),lymphocyte to monocyte ratio(LMR)and the clinicopathological features and the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer.Method:Clinico-pathological data of 136 patients with colorectal cancer in the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University between May 2010 and October 2011was analyzed retrospectively in this study. The median value of NLR,LMR was2.28,4.22 as a cut-off value,Respectively. We explore the value of the NLR,LMR with clinical pathological characteristics and overall survival of colorectal cancer patients, and to analyze the risk factors of overall survival. Results:NLR was associated with tumor invasion in patients, but not associated with age, sex, tumor size,LMR was associated with tumor size in patients, but not related with age, sex, depth of tumor invasion, differentiation type,TNM staging; The 5-year overall survival rate was 60%,Survival curve showed that the overall survival rate of patients with high NLR was lower than that of low NLR group(X~2=18.711,P<0.05);The overall survival rate of patients with high LMR group was higher than that of low LMR group(X~2=32.953,P<0.05);Univariate analysis showed that preoperative NLR,LMR,tumor size, differentiation, depth of tumor invasion, lymph node staging and TNM staging were risk factors of overall survival in colorectal cancer patients(all P<0.05),Multivariate analysis showed that TNM staging and LMR were independent prognostic factors(all P<0.05).Conclusions:(1)NLR was associated with the depth of tumor invasion in patients(P<0.05),but not with the age, gender, tumor size, differentiation type, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis,TNM stage(all P>0.05);LMR was associated with the tumor size of the patients(P<0.05),but not with the age, gender, depth of invasion, differentiation type, lymph node metastasis,TNM stage(all P>0.05).(2)Preoperative high NLR,low LMR groups suggested that patients have a poor prognosis.TNM staging and LMR are independent factors of overall survival in colorectal cancer patients. |
