Objective:To study the basic constitution, variation trend and influencing factors of hospitalization costs for patients with diabetes mellitus, also use multivariate stepwise linear regression equations and decision tree models to analyze the impact of each factor on hospitalization costs, then predict hospitalization costs for patients with different types of diabetes mellitus in order to expect diabetes.Aimed to provide measures for the prevention and provide basic data for reducing the economic burden of patients, and proposals are made for reducing the status of resource waste in China. Methods:This study extracted information from the medical records of patients diagnosed as "diabetics" from January 2013 to December 2017 from the medical record information system of a tertiary hospital in Nanjing,Jiangsu Province.Analyzed basic situation and hospital cost composition of diabetics patients;univariate analysis, use multiple stepwise linear regression analysis and decision tree model to analyze the influencing factors of hospitalization costs of patients with diabetes, and use these models to predict the hospital costs of different categories of patients, compare the prediction effect of these two models.Result:Hospitalization costs have increased year by year, but the growth trend is slowing. In the composition of hospitalization costs, drug and inspection fees account for about 85%of the total cost, which is the most important component of hospitalization costs;after one-way analysis of variance, the days of hospitalization, complications, age, gender, marital status, and type of medical insurance, hospitalization times, hospital admissions, and clinical pathways all had an impact on the cost of hospitalization. The top five factors affecting hospitalization costs in multiple stepwise linear regression equations were hospitalization days, year, complications, critical status, hospitalization days before surgery, and the top five factors affecting hospitalization costs in the decision tree are hospital days, complications, age, discharge status, and critical status. Conclusion:Through this study,we can learn that hospitalization costs should be controlled in terms of shortening hospitalization time, controlling the development of complications, improve health insurance policy and perfecting the medical insurance system,so as to reduce the burden on patients and effectively use health resources.
