Objective Using the chinese version of the Patient Health Questionnaire(PHQ-9)and the 7-tiem Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale(GAD-7)to understand the symptoms of depression and anxiety in patients with functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs),and to analyze the applicability of these two scales in patients with FGIDs.Methods Patients diagnosed with FGIDs were randomly selected from the Department of Gastroenterology in the People's Hospital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.All patients were subdivided into functional esophageal disorders group,functional dyspepsia(FD)group,and functional bowel disorders group,according to the organ area where the disease occurred.The questionnaire survey was collected,including the general demographic data,the clinical data,the questionnaire content of PHQ-9,GAD-7,Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)with the informed consentof all patients.Then the psychiatric psychiatrist diagnoses mental disorders in all patients,and evaluates the clinical value of different scales in assessing depression and anxiety in FGIDs.Results The study included a total of 117 patients with FGIDs.And the gender,age,ethnicity and education degree of FGIDs patients had no significant effect on the scores of PHQ-9 and the GAD-7(P>0.05).The 80.3% with depression and the 85.5% with anxiety respectively according the PHQ-9 and GAD-7,which were significantly higher than the 55.6% of SDS and 58.1% of SAS(P<0.05).The coincidence rates with the clinicians' diagnosis of PHQ-9 and GAD-7 were 78.6% and 71.8%,and also higher than 53.8% for SDS and 58.1%for SAS(P<0.05).The detection rates of anxiety and depression using PHQ-9and GAD-7 were no significant differences in different types of FGIDs(P>0.05).Conclusions(1)The incidence of depression and/or anxiety in patients with FGIDs is high;(2)The Chinese version of the PHQ-9 and GAD-7 scales can effectively screen and evaluate depression and anxiety in patients with FGIDs,with the characteristic of simple,easy and reliable.
