Objective:To explore the expression of estrogen receptor-related receptor alpha?ERR??in bladder cancer and its influence on the prognosis of bladder cancer patients.Method:The specimens were obtained from 61 primary bladder cancer patients underwent bladder cancer surgery between January 2014 and December2016 in the Department of Urology of Affiliated Tumor Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. The whole bladder cancer patients did not receive any preoperativechemotherapy, immunotherapyandhadnodiabetesor cardiovascular complications.61 bladder cancer tissues were corroborated by pathological examination postoperatively.According to the clinical datas, there were 48 males and 13 females and their ages ranged from 30 to 82 years?median,64.6 years?.The pathological grades were high-grade?n=51?and low-grade?n=10?.The TNM clinical stage contained Tis?n=1?,T1?n=9?,T2?n=7?,T3?n=26?,and T4?n=18?.Meanwhile,we collected 25 adjacent cancer tissues which had been pathologically affirmed and regarded them as control group. All cases were followed up to February 2017.The expression of ERR?was detected by immunohistochemistry in bladder cancer tissues and adjacent cancer tissues.Statistical software was performed to analyze the connection between clinicopathological datas and the expression of ERR?in bladder cancer patients,as well as its impact on patients'prognoses.Result:Immunohistochemical staining showed that abundant, uniform and thick brown particles were predominantly observed in the nuclei of bladder cancer tissues compared to its cytoplasm, cell membrane and there was almost no coloring in the background, which symbolized positive staining of ERR?.Conversely,we could barely observe staining in the realm of adjacent cancer tissues.45 positive expressions of ERR?were found in the entire 61 cases while the other 16 cases were negatively expressed, the positive rate was 73.77%.There was only 1 positive expression of ERR?in 25 cases of adjacent cancer tissues. There was a significant difference between TNM stage and the positive expression of ERR??P<0.05?but there was no significant difference between gender, age, pathological grade and the positive expression of ERR??P>0.05?.Kaplan-Meier survival curve analysis unveiled the expression of ERR?in bladder cancer was significantly relevant to the prognosis of bladder cancer patients, and the survival rate of patients with ERR?positive expression was significantly lower than that of ERR?-negative patients?P<0.05?.Conclusion:The positive expression rate of ERR?in bladder cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in adjacent cancer tissues.Patients with the higher expression of ERR?and the lower TNM stage would be prone to having more unfavorable prognoses.
