Objective To explore the difference of quality of life(QOL)between patients with chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)and healthy controls, and to study influencing factors of quality of life in patients with CRS.Methods A group of 100 patients with CRS and a group of 100 healthy controls completed the Sino-Nasal Outcome Test 22(SNOT-22)questionnaire.Data sets were analyzed by using principal component analysis(PCA)to identify a set of symptom components, which were analyzed for the differences between patients with CRS and healthy controls and explored for influencing factors of quality of life in patients with CRS.Results 1.The use of PCA to simplify the SNOT22 for 10 sub-components,including "sleep disturbanceemotional disturbance" "functional disturbance" "discharge conditions" "nasal conditions" "head and facial condition" "ear fullness " "allergic conditions" "ear pain" and "cough";2.The total score of SNOT22 and 10 sub-components of CRS patients were higher than those in the healthy controls, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).3.The phenotypes of CRS,the CT score of the anterior nasal sinus and the previous sinus surgical history were important influencing factors affecting the overall quality of life of patients with CRS,and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).4.Whether accompanied with allergic rhinitis, gender and smoking history influence the quality of life in patients with CRS in some sub-components,the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05), but has no effect on the overall quality of life, there was no statistically significant difference(P > 0.05).Conclusion The quality of life of patients with CRS decreased significantly. The higher number of surgeries, the higher the CT score of the anterior nasal sinus and without nasal polyps, the lower quality of life CRS patients have.Gender, whether accompanied by allergic rhinitis, the history of smoking only affects the patients with CRS in a few sub-components.We should pay more attention to CRS patients with more risk factors and improve their quality of life.According to different aspects of the quality of life,we can give individualized treatment to patients.
