Objectives1.Translating the Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale into Chinese, making it suit for people in the mainland of China.2.Testing the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale.Methods1.The translation and revision of the DKAS We translated the DKAS following the Brislin's model from translation to back-translation,then adapted it's item by consulting 6 experts and investigating thirty subjects.2.The assessment of reliability and validity of the Chinese version of Dementia Knowledge Assessment Scale Totally 300 subjects were recruited through convenience sampling method from eight retirement housing in Zhengzhou, finally 282 scales were useful.Critical ratio and correlation coefficient were used to delete or retain an item;Cronbach'?coefficient,split-half reliability and test-retest reliability were used to estimate the reliability. While content validity,criterion-related validity and construct validity were used to examine the validity. All data were input into IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0 software and IBM SPSS AMOS21.0 for statistical analysis.Categorical data was described by composition.t-test,correlation analysis and exploratory factor analysis were employed.Results1.Results of DKAS translation Through translation,back-translation and Cross-cultural revision, the Chinese version of DKAS was developed, including 4 subscales(Causes and Characteristics,Communication and Behaviour,Care Considerations and Risks and Health Promotion).2.Results of the test of reliability and validity2.1 Results of item analysis The Chinese version of DKAS includes 4 subscales, which consists of 25 items. The critical ratios of the items were between 5.395 to 10.276,all beyond 3.0(P<0.05);the correlation coefficients between all items and the total score of the scale were between 0.287 and 0.552.2.2 Results of the validity verification:(1)the construct validity: According to the Confirmatory Factor Analysis, the factor loading of all the items were above 0.5 and the fitting index(GFI)=0.954,adjust GFI(AGFI)=0.990,normal fit index(NFI)=0.912,incremental fit index(IFI)=0.973,comparative fit index(CFI)=0.945,root mean square error of approximation(RMSEA)=0.068 were within the acceptable range. The value of composite reliability were0.869~0.903 and the value of AVE were 0.526~0.573.(2)the content validity:The minimum content validity index of the item-level was 0.83,and the maximum content validity index of the item-level was 1.00,the content validity index of the scale-level was 0.95.(3)the criterion-related validity:the correlation coefficient between the C-DKAS and the ADKS was 0.891(P<0.05).2.3 Results of the reliability verification:(1)the Cronbach'? coefficients for the 4 subscales ranged from 0.774 to 0.918,and 0.818 for the C-DKAS,and the split-half reliability coefficients for the 4subscales ranged from 0.867 to 0.970,and 0.907 for the total scale.(2)the test-retest reliability coefficients for the 4 subscales ranged from 0.865 to 0.931,and 0.835 for the C-DKAS.Conclusions1.The Chinese version of DKAS consists of 4 subscales, including 25 items. The scale is convenient and simple and can be accepted during different caregivers of the Dementia patients.2.The C-DKAS has good reliability and validity, and it can accurately distinguish the knowledge level of caregivers of different educational levels.
