Aims:To explore the effect of general anesthesia on the brain quotient in senile patients undergone abdominal surgery. Methods:A total of 20 cases of senile patients aged 70 to 82,undergone abdominal surgery and classified as Grade I-II by the American Society of Anesthesiologists(ASA)were selected. After entering the operating room, the patients were performed monitoring measures to monitor various indexes such as electrocardiogram, heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, oxygen satuation, etc. Then venous channel of the patients was opened. The induction scheme was as follows:0.4?g/kg sufentanil,0.05mg/kg midazolam,0.15mg/kg cisatracurium,0.3mg/kg etomidate were used for intravenous injection, and when autonomous respiration weakened, face mask was used to control ventilation. Then oxygen inhalation and denitrification were conducted for 3 minutes, and 4#proseal laryngeal mask airway was implanted. For the maintenance of anesthesia,4-8mg/kg/h propofol and 6-10?g/kg/h remifentanil were pumped in after the operation began, and the pumped dosage of propofol and remifentanil was adjusted according to the intraoperative needs. After the operation, the venous analgetic pump was connected. At 12h before the operation and 4h after the operation, the brain quotient of the patients was measured using brain quotient test in the same quiet site.SRQ,BRQ,ATQ,ACQ,EQ,SQ,CQ and BQ were achieved.Results:1.At 12h before the anesthesia,The average SRQ of the patients was 60.06±13.40 and 51.41 ± 12.38,At 4h after the anesthesia, the SRQ of the patients was 51.41 ± 12.38;2.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average EQ was 84.69±0.73,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average EQ was 79.86±3.74;3.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average BQ was 73.40±2.68,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average BQ was 68.24±4.67;4.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average BRQ was 73.17±2.07 for left brain and 72.03±0.21 for right brain,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average BRQ was 72.93±2.80 for left brain and 71.03±0.63 for right brain;5.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average ATQ was 69.82±6.25 for left brain and 71.80±2.18 for right brain,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average ATQ was 66.44±5.14 for left brain and 63.80±12.92 for right brain;6.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average ACQ was 87.57±3.49 for left brain and 89.46±2.19 for right brain,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average ACQ was 84.60±3.79for left brain and 81.98±8.76 for right brain;7.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average SQ was 76.29±1.41 for left brain and 73.11±3.96 for right brain,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average SQ was 73.68±3.61 for left brain and 73.40±4.01 for right brain;8.At 12h before the anesthesia, the average CQ was 77.02±6.40,At 4h after the anesthesia, the average CQ was 70.17±3.82.The statistical test results suggested that the differences in the above indexes between before and after the anesthesia were not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion:General anesthesia has no significant effect on the brain quotient of senile patients undergone abdominal surgery.
