Objective:To discuss the value of real-time three-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography(RT-3D-TEE)in the diagnosis of atrial septal shunt diseaseMethods:Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography(2D-TTE)?two-dimensi-ona l transesophageal echocardiography(2D-TEE)and RT-3D-TEE were performed in 45 patients.Morphologic evaluation and relevant measurements obtained on 2D-TT E?2D-TEE and RT-3D-TEE were compared with those obtained on surg-ical resul ts(Interventional and repair).Results:1.The number of holes in atrial septal defect(ASD)and the location relationship between them could accurately display by RT-3D-TEE.2.RT-3D-TEE has a unique advantage over two-dimensional ultrasound in the observation of defect morphology and the coincidence rate is 90%.3.In judging the type of defect,the coincidence rate of 2D-TTE 2D-TEE and RT-3D-TEE was 84%?93%?98%,respectively.4.Correlation analysis between the diameter measured by 2D-TTE,2D-TEE,RT-3D-TEE and the diameter of interventional occluder(p<0.05),The correlation coefficient r was 0.85,0.89,0.96,respectively.5.Correlation Analysis between the area measured by RT-3D-TEE and the area measured by repair surgery(p<0.01),The Correlation coefficient r was 0.85.6.The sensitivity and specificity of RT-3D-TEE in the diagnosis of patent foramen ovale(PFO)were 100%.Conclusion:RT-3D-TEE enhancesthe diagnosis and therapeutic selection of atrial septal shunt disease,is more clinical useful for displaying the morphology of defect and itsspatial relationship with neighboring structures.
