This study examines the effect of community forest management on household income in CHT.The main objective of this study is to assess and analyze community forestry management and its effect on household income in Bangladesh evidence from CHT.However,the specific objectives of this study were to examine the effect of community forestry management on household income in CHT;to examine the effect of community forestry management on forest income and to examine the effect of community forestry management on farm income.The study employed primary sourced of data using questionnaires and direct personal interview.The data sourced was analyzed using OLS multiple regression model,random effect model,fixed effect model and Hausman test.Based on the result from findings it shows that community participation in community forest management has contributed positively on total household income but not statistically significant.Also,participation had a positive non-significance effect on income from forest and income from farm.The insignificance effect of community participation on household income is because forestry has a long production cycle,so the impact can be insignificant in the short term.Findings also shows that forest area,other source of income as well as modern equipment had a positive significant effect on total household income whereas INFPs and age had positive significant impact on income from farm.Based on this findings,the study recommended that the need to enlighten and educate people on the importance of the community participation on forest management to household income rural livelihood and environmental sustainability is necessary and very serious commitment on the part of a government to ensure adequate support for community participation in forest management especially in the area of forest regeneration,increased forest reservation and sustainable management of the forests was also recommended. |
