Wheat is one of the three most widely cultivated major grains in the world.40%of the world's population uses wheat as the main food crop.At present,drought is one of the most serious abiotic stresses that restrict crop growth and affect crop yield worldwide.Root activity,soil distribution and growth potential are the main factors that affect crop growth and development.It can not only accumulate research data and experience for wheat drought resistance theory,but also provide theoretical reference and gene resources for Wheat Drought Resistance Breeding Based on QTL.We analyzed the phenotype of root length traits of 768 selected wheat natural populations.684 of 768 wheat populations were in China and 84 were imported from abroad.263 of 684domestic varieties are from Huang Huai Hai wheat region.The average value of root length is15.99cm,and the coefficient of variation is 18.26%.242 of them are improved varieties,the average value of root length is 16.28cm,the coefficient of variation is 17.07%,21 of them are local varieties,the average value of root length is 12.63cm,and the coefficient of variation is18.53%.120 of 684 domestic varieties were taken from the wheat region in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.The average value of root length was 15.86cm,and the coefficient of variation was 16.77%.Among them,77 were improved varieties,the average value of root length was 16.37cm,the coefficient of variation was 15.82%,42 were local varieties,the average value of root length was 15.05cm,and the coefficient of variation was15.68%.88 of 684 domestic varieties were taken from the northern wheat region.The average value of root length character was 14.65cm,and the coefficient of variation was 22.89%.Among them,72 improved varieties,the average value of root length character was 14.89cm,the coefficient of variation was 24.17%,16 local varieties,the average value of root length character was 14.11cm,and the coefficient of variation was 15.71%.76 of 684 domestic varieties are from northwest wheat region,the average value of root length is 14.57cm,and the coefficient of variation is 19.97%.Among them,48 improved varieties,the average value of root length is 14.86cm,the coefficient of variation is 19.98%,28 local varieties,the average value of root length is 13.82cm,and the coefficient of variation is 18.88%.77 of 684 domestic varieties are from southwest wheat region,the average value of root length is 14.61cm,and the coefficient of variation is 16.15%.Among them,45 improved varieties,the average value of root length is 15.02cm,the coefficient of variation is 15.78%,32 local varieties,the average value of root length is 13.98cm,and the coefficient of variation is 15.67%.Five significant signals related to root length traits were found by population association analysis,which were located on chromosome 4B,7B,6D and 7D respectively.The peak SNP on chromosome 4B is AX-110397284,1220735 bp,P value is 6.30×10-5;the two peak SNPs on chromosome 7B are AX-94418646 and ax-110445547,AX-94418646 is 426881189 bp,P value is 1.16×10-6.AX-110445547 is located at 612607992 bp,P value is 8.80×10-6;AX-109235132 is located at 665400815 bp,P value is 2.47×10-11;AX-111729400 is located at420359481 bp,P value is 1.32×10-4.We located the region with the strongest signal on chromosome 6D by LD and found 13 root length related candidate genes.Among them,TRAESCS6D02G384500 is the root specific expression gene,with the TMP of 99.04 and 108in the root length and 1.16 and 9.73 in the leaf.It was found that the candidate gene and Arabidopsis fbr12 were homologous genes and related to the regulation of root development.Through haplotype analysis,it was found that there were significant differences in root length between local and improved varieties.
