Necrophagous phorid flies are common in buried corpses,and their development data play an important role on estimation of postburial interval,PBI.At different temperatures(15?,18?,21?,24?)and relative humidity 75%,the shortest developmental duration,larva length,and intrapuparial morphological changes of Diplonevra funebris(Meigen)and Puliciphora borinquenensis were observed and measured in this study with the aim to establish their developmental profile and provide an important basis for estimating the PBI of buried cadavers.The main results are as follows:1.Under different temperatures(15?,18?,21?,24?)and relative humidity 75%,the development time of D.funebris(Meigen)larvae was shortened with the increase of temperature,and the shortest developmental duration was 674.00±2.41h,592.60±1.09h,288.30±1.67h and 137.70±1.89h,respectively;the eclosion time of female pupae was 672.00±2.67h,492.50±1.87h,361.00±1.56h and 264.54±2.12h,respectively while that of males was 662.80±2.89h,480.00±1.84h,351.20±1.47h and 252.60±1.09h,respectively.Under different temperatures(15?,18?,21?,24?)and relative humidity 75%,the development duration of P.borinquenensis larvae was shortened with the increase of temperature,the shortest developmental duration was 488.80±1.17h,360.80±0.83h,242.50±1.30h and 184.00±1.22h,respectively;the eclosion time of female pupae was 615.30±1.98h,492.70±2.01h,361.60±1.85h and 289.10±0.79h,respectively while that of males was 624.50±1.57h,500.00±1.44h,384.20±1.65h and 300.30±0.25h,respectively.2.There was a quadratic curve relationship between the body length and development time of D.funebris(Meigen)larvae.Under different temperatures(15?,18?,21?,24?)and relative humidity 75%,the fitting equations were as follows:Y=-0.00002X~2+0.0183X+0.3319,Y=-0.00003X~2+0.0202X+0.4641,Y=-0.0001X~2+0.0436X+0.5025,Y=-0.0003X~2+0.0641X+0.4202.The relationship between larva length and development time of P.borinquenensis was cubic,and the fitting equations were:Y=0.000002X~3-0.001212X~2+0.092824X+0.236311,Y=0.00002X~3-0.00399X~2+0.16215X+0.1945,Y=0.0002X~3-0.0175X~2+0.3403X+0.273,Y=0.0003X~3-0.0207X~2+0.3807X+0.0259.3.According to the morphological characteristics,intrapuparial period of D.funubris(Meigen)and P.borinquinensis could be divided into 8 substages:prepupa stage,protruding of respiratory horns stage,segmentation of thorax and abdomen stage,yellow eye stage,bright brown leg stage,dark brown leg stage,dark red-brown eye stage and black eye stage.
