On Preservation Of Taixing Ginkgo Agricultural Cultural Heritage

For hundreds of years,people in Taixing have a unique preference to Taixing Ginkgo,the product of our ancestors' hard work that enjoys a profound history.Their rich experience in the cultivation and processing of Ginkgo has led to a considerable scale,which has promoted the rural economic development and enriched the connotation of local diet culture in Taixing.The natural Ginkgo relic in Taixing is well preserved and has been listed in the third batch of "Important Agricultural Cultural Heritage of China".Therefore,the study of Taixing Ginkgo has not only academic value,but also great practical significance for promoting local rural economic development and inheriting excellent traditional culture.This paper consists of four parts.The first chapter explores the origin and development of Taixing Ginkgo.The close relationship between the Ginkgo's growing habits and the local natural environments is well discussed based on the careful analyses of the geographical location and geomorphic features of Taixing as well as the characteristics of local climate,soil,and hydrology.Study on the recording in local chronicles illustrates that the historical development of gingko from Tang and Song Dynasty,Yuan?Ming and Qing Dynasty,The Republic of China to the present days,according to the characteristics of evolution,can fall into three major periods.Chapter Two focuses on the current situation of Taixing gingko cultural heritage.Field investigation and research on the quantity,distribution and characteristics of ancient Ginkgo trees in Taixing establish the summary of the cultivation system and production management of Ginkgo,as well as its edible,medical and some other usages such as tourism and so on.All in all,Taixing Ginkgo cultural heritage system is summarized from the aspects of living and sacrificing habits.Chapter Three analyses the four existing problems in Taixing Ginkgo cultural heritage.First,from the aspect of agricultural system,the living environment of Ginkgo is at risk and the plantation structure is not reasonable.Secondly,from the aspect of government protection,the relevant laws are inadequate while the funds are short and the preferential policies are not fully carried out.Thirdly,from the aspect of marketing awareness and management,weak marketing awareness,poor management and small-scale leading enterprises result in backward technological development.Finally,from the aspect of protection and development,lack of strong awareness of protection,weak brand advocating,and inadequate tourism investment hinder a sustainable development.The last chapter suggests some useful solutions and advices respectively.First,we should improve the living environment of Ginkgo as well as the industrial structure.Secondly,we should build an overall protection laws of the ancient Ginkgo trees,increase the investment and guarantee that all policies are put in place.Thirdly,we should make sure that the scientific and technological content of products is increased,the market is well organized and the leading enterprises have profound influence to enhance marketing awareness and Ginkgo production and management.Finally,we need to strengthen the awareness of protecting ancient Ginkgo trees and investment in tourism construction.The innovation of this paper lies in the fact that on the basis of a lot of field investigation and literature research,a careful summary the quantity,distribution and characteristics of Taixing Ginkgo brings up an analysis of four existing problems in the process of protecting Ginkgo cultural heritage.What's more,a lot of practical advices and solutions to the problems mentioned above are also put forward.
