The effect on thinning rate,fruit quality,fruit growth and flower bud differentiation of eight kinds of flower and fruit thinning agents was investigated in ‘Dawuxing' loquat in the different periods,including different concentrations of NAA,NAAm,Ethephon,Carbaryl,6-BA,Bordeaux mixture,Lime-sulfur and Rapeseed oil.The main results were as follows:1.The flowering period was the most effective for chemical thinning among five stages.5mg/L NAA,20mg/L NAAm,0.4g/L Ethephon,0.1g/L Carbaryl and hand thinning treatment not only significantly reduced the load of fruit,but also increased sugar content and decreased acid content,which could improve fruit quality.2.Flower and fruit thinning agents had the positive effect on fruit growth and development,due to changing the contents of several endogenous hormones.After 5mg/L NAA,20mg/L NAAm,0.4g/L Ethephon and hand thinning treatment,the change tendency of endogenous hormone content in the pulp and seeds was significantly earlier than the control treatment,which indicated that these thinning treatments had the significant effect on promoting fruit growth,which was beneficial to early fruit maturing.3.The number of fruit setting was closely related to the pollen viability and germination ability.5mg/L NAA,20mg/L NAAm,0.4g/L Ethephon,0.1g/L Carbaryl and hand thinning treatment significantly reduced the rate of pollen germination,which inhibiting fruit setting.Thinning treatments almost had no effect on pollen viability in the second year,which demonstrated that the thinning effect of flower and fruit thinning agents was limited only one year,therefore,there was no thinning effect in the second year.4.After 20mg/L NAAm,0.4g/L Ethephon and hand thinning treatment,the change tendency on the relative expression of flowering genes EjAP1,EjLFY-1,EjLFY-2,and EjTFL1 was significantly earlier than the control treatment,indicating that these thinning treatments could promote the flower bud differentiation in the following year.
