In recent years, the high grain consumption mode has been adopted in the southwest agricultural area, the rapid development of grain-saved type animal husbandry leads to an increasing demand for forage. Therefore,a large number of foreign forage varieties are introduced blindly, which leads to a confusion in the herbage market. However, these varieties are often not tested by adaptive testing, and the production performance is unstable. In order to reduce the losses caused by the miscellaneous varieties and the instability of production and to alleviate the phenomenon that single pasture varieties in the area cannot meet the daily demand of livestock throughout the year,8 orchardgrass cultivars(lines)and 124 silage corn varieties(lines)were selected as the test materials to study the production performance of pasture varieties(lines)in Chengdu plain area. The results showed that:1.Variety test was conducted among 8 orchardgrass cultivars(lines),and all materials can complete the growth period at the test site. The new variety ‘Aishilang' had the best performance in yield. The annual average dry grass production of ‘Aishilang' reached 11.45t/hm2,which was 10.84% higher than the national trial variety ‘Dianbei' whose output was 10.33t/hm2 and was 23.51 % higher than the control variety ‘Niwo' whose output was 9.27t/hm2.In terms of nutrients, the crude protein content of the new strain ‘Niwo' was the highest with an average of 15.8%,which was 2.31% higher than that of the control ‘Dianbei',indicating its good quality.Through the dynamic monitoring of the crude protein of each nutrient material of each Dactylis species(strain),it was found that Dactylis glomerata had a higher content of crude protein in the first and second crop, while the third one was relatively low.2.In the silage maize varieties(lines)comparison test, the varieties No.214,No.227 and No.243 had a better yield, and the fresh grass yield was 19198 kg/hm2,18446 kg/hm2 and 17733 kg/hm2 respectively, which was 30.4%,24.3% and 21.9%,respectively,higher than the yield of the control variety CS-CK4 whose yield was 30.4t/hm2.In addition, the varieties(lines)215,219,231,300 and 229 also had greater biological yields than the control variety CS-CK4,which could be used as candidate varieties.Regarding the number of green leaves, among the 22 varieties(lines),No.219,214,298,243,CS-CK4(control),227,284 and 229 all had a large number of green leaves and were ideal for silage. The crude protein contents of varieties(lines)231,229,300,225,336,284,215 were 7.4%,7.1%,6.4%,6.4%,6.3%,6.2% and 6.2%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those of the control variety CS-CK1 whose protein content was 5.9%.Integrating the above three aspects, the variety numbers 243,300,and 214 can be used as the preferred varieties in the Chengdu plain area for promotion.
