Corn as an important food crop,feed and industrial raw material,plays a key role in the development of agricultural economy in China.At present,many corn varieties are developed in China,but there is few hybrid in large-scale planting,the genetic basis of most varieties is narrow,which can not meet the requirements in maize production.Yudan 112 as a new maize hybrid was developed by Henan Agricultural University.It was different from the two major types of production(Zhengdan 958 and Xianyu 335).Three elite hybrids Zhengdan 958,Xianyu 335,Yudan 112 and 26 inbred lines from 5 major heterotic groups including parents of three hybrids were used as experimental materials to understand the genetic basis of Yudan 112,and analysis of characteristics for different hybrids in different planting densities.The main results were as follows:1.The genetic relationship of 26 maize inbred lines was revealed by SSR markers.The parent inbred lines L217 and L119 A of hybrid Yudan 112 belonged to Lancast and Tangsipingtou heterotic groups respectively.The heterosis model of Yudan 112 was Lancast group×Tangsipingtou group,which provides a new model to develope sperior hybrids with strong heterosis.2.In this study,different planting densities had significant effects on the stem diameter of the internode under the ear and the third internods above ground.The plant growth and development were significantly affected by different genetic backgrounds and environments.The correlation analysis showed that the 100-grain weight was positive relations with ear length,ear diameter and ear row number,the correlation coefficients were 0.25,0.42 and 0.33,respectively.The results indicated that the optimal density of Yudan 112 was 75000 plants/ha;3.The grain protein content of Yudan 112 and its parents L217 and L119 were 12.19%,13.96%,11.67%,respectively.The lysine content of Yudan 112 and L217 were 0.45% and 0.37%,repectively.The grain protein and lysine content of Yudan 112 were both higher than those of Zhengdan 958 planted in large scale,so the hybrid Yudan 112 belonged to quality protein maize.
