The Developmental Status Of Sweet Potato Industry And Introduction Experiment In Guangxi

Sweet potato(Ipomoea batatas(L.)Lam.)is a genus of Convolvulaceae.It is heliophilous,short daylight plants with optimum temperature 22?30 ?.Sweet potato has high yield and stable production.It is one of the main food crops in China,it can be used as food,feed and renewable energy with a very promising development prospect.Sweet potato is the third largest food crop and the most widely planted potato crop in Guangxi province.However,the output value and yield of sweet potato is low.There is still a lack of systematic research on the developmental status of sweet potato.In this study,through the analysis of data,field research and other methods,the industrial investigation and analysis of the current situation of sweet potato industry in Guangxi were studied,combined with the introduction experiments of new cultivars,new ideas and development strategies for the development of sweet potato industry were provided in Guangxi.The main results are as follows:1.Status and problems of industrial development of sweet potato in GuangxiPlanting area of sweet potato is kept in 200000 ha,and the yield has a steady rise in recent years in Guangxi.There are many planting cultivars,fresh eating cultivars are the main cultivars,and starch cultivars are secondary.The planting areas of North,South-East,and South of Guanxi is 28%,17%,and 16%,respectively.The main local cultivars are Dongxing Red Girl,Yulin Great Sweet potato,etc.The main sweet potato processing products have vermicellis,chips and crisps.In general,sweet potato vermicellis are processed in North of Guangxi,but chips and crisps are processed in South-East and South of Guangxi.Sweet potato processing enterprises are small enterprises or cooperative,and its production has high seasonality.The main sale ways include non-local purchasers,self marketing and network marketing,self marketing is the main way,then non-local purchasers,and then network marketing.Network marketing develop rapidly.Guangxi Innovation Team Project of Tubers had been set up.Sweet potato breeding has been many achievements,including high starch,fresh eating,and high anthocyanin cultivars.Germplasm resource management system had been set up.Cultivation techniques had been studied and applied such as the control of diseases and insect pests,integration of water and fertilizer,Selenium rich cultivation.Through the collection and analysis of the current status of Guangxi sweet potato industry,the main problems are summarized:The supplies of higher quality seedling and seed sweet potato were not sufficient,and the effective seedling market control is lack.The cultivation is not standardized,and the diseases and insect pests are serious.The degree of mechanization is low,and the cultivation scale is low level.there are many cultivars,but there are less Improved variety and producing brand.The storage technique of products is low level,and the loss is too high.The cost is high,the sale is difficult,and the benefit is low.The processing products are single,the deep-processing products are less,and the added value is low.The supports of policy and funding are lack.2.Introduction experiment of new sweet potato cultivarsIn response to the shortage of high-quality seedlings and seed potatoes in Guangxi,the introduction of Jishu 25 and Jishu 26 was carried out.Results analysis found that compared to the control cultivars Guangshu 87 and Guifen 3,Jishu25 and Jishu 26 have better growth,yield,economic and quality traits.The yield,rate of large and medium potato,commodity rate,soluble sugar content,and taste score of Jishu 26 is 1119.54 kg/667m2,89.5%,80.6%,19.1%,80.5 points,and increased by 146.7 kg,6.1%,8%,7.4%,and 10.5 points compared to Guangshu 87,respectively.The dry matter rate and starch content of Jishu 25 was 34.6%,38.38%,and increased by 9.3%and 5.98%,respectively.Therefore,Jishu 25 is suitable for special-purpose starch processing cultivars to be planted in Guangxi,and Jishu 26 is suitable for promotion as fresh-type cultivars in Guangxi.In the meanwhile,it can be used as parents to breed new varieties.The introduction and promotion of high-quality varieties can make up for the supply of high-quality seedlings,meet the market competition demand,expand sales channels,and meet the requirements of brand development.3.SWOT Analysis and Development CountermeasuresThrough SWOT analysis,Guangxi has the advantages of natural resources,location,labor,technology and policy.It is proposed that with the support of the government,it should seize the opportunity of large market demand and the initial construction of professional and technical teams.It is necessary to strength the study and introduction of high quality varieties,and standardize the management of seedlings and potatoes.Mechanization and standardized cultivation techniques should be applied.It should be strengthened the control of diseases and insect pests and increased commercial rate.It is necessary to develop new storage technology of sweet potato to reduce loss,strengthen deep processing of sweet potato and increase additional value,and establish special funds for supporting leading enterprises and developing branding strategies.
