Camellia japonica is a traditional flower with a long history of cultivation.It has a high ornamental value.This paper based on the comprehensive investigation and classification of Camellia japonica L.cultivars resources in Nanchang urban area.This paper found out that:1.C.japonica cultivars resources in Nanchang urban areaThe C.japonica cultivars are investigated in Nanchang urban area for two years.The investigations were carried out on universities,urban residential areas,natural scenic areas,urban parks,city squares,historical and cultural sites and main streets in Nanchang urban area.Sixty-eight C.japonica were identified.Each cultivar was described in detail and compiled a classification table for the identification of C.japonica in Nanchang urban area after sorting and classifying.2.Classification of Nanchang urban area C.japonicaExplored the principles and classification criteria of C.japonica Classification which based on the investigation of the resources of existing C.japonica.Chen Shaoyun's classification scheme of C.japonica was used for reference.The flower types can be divided into three major categories and eleven flower types,namely,single-petal,semi-double and complete-double.The pattern is divided into three major categories and eleven patterns,namely single-lobed,semi-weighted and fully double-lobed.The flower type is divided into single-valve type,semi-curved type,lotus-shaped shape,pine ball type,tonic type,chrysanthemum type,hibiscus type,crown type,hydrangea type,radial type,rose type.3.Comprehensive evaluation of the ornamental characteristics of C.japonicaScreening and combining the characteristics of Nanchang urban area C.japonica according to the characteristics of C.japonica sinensis,combined with the ecological habits of C.japonica.Through the characteristics of flower pattern,flower color,flowering period,flower path,branching position,branch color and charm.the paper recommended 42 varieties of camellia suitable for Nanchang garden application and comprehensive evaluation of the ornamental characteristics of C.japonica sinensis.The situation of the application of C.japonica in Nanchang and the problems to be solved were summarized and discussed.
