Abstract/Summary:
In view of the problems of less suitable turf species and poor drought and salt tolerance of introduced turf species in arid and cold regions of northern China,the concept of water saving,energy saving and sustainable greening should be adhered to,and the local grass germplasm resources should be fully exploited and utilized.The wild germplasm materials of Festuca in Inner Mongolia grassland have strong resistance..dahurica and F.rubra L.were obtained after many years of domestication and breeding In order to further clarify their atrf value and resistance,field grasses of Festuca were carried out in Hohhot,Inner Mongolia,taking.rubra L.cv.Maxima as a control.The comparative study of turf quality,anatomical structure of vegetative organs,salt tolerance and drought resistance at seed germination and seedling stage provided scientific basis for the promotion of new strains and the breeding of turf grass of Festuca.The conclusions are as follows:1.F.dahurica has high density,blue-green color,good uniformity,good texture and strong cold resistance.The comprehensive evaluation of turf quality is superior to F.rubra L and F.rubra L.cv.Maxima.It is suitable for use as ornamental turf in dry,cold and saline-alkaline areas2.The anatomical structure of vegetative organs of the new strains of F.dahtrica and F.rubra L.has the characteristics of xerophytes.Under moderate maintenance management,the stem drought resistance of F.dahurica line was stronger than that of F.rubra L.line,while the root and leaf drought resistance of F.dahurica line was weaker than that of F.rubra L.3.F.dahurica can survive the winter safely in the cold weather of late spring,while the other two materials have low Overwinterine Rate and poor cold resistance.The drought and salt tolerance of.dahurica is also stronger than the other two materials at the seed germination stage.Mild drought and salt stress are beneficial to the germination of its seeds and have the "initiation" effect.
