The forest based health and wellness industry is brand new and had just started here in China,it takes its roots in the human cognition and reconstruction of nature to realize a pre-determined goal of harmony between man and nature by scientifically utilizing forest environments as a natural resource for practical activities. This study, which uses the environmental healthcare factor from the forest based health and wellness base grounds and the effects of forest based health and wellness as subjects of studies, aims to explore the characteristic traits of environmental healthcare resources of forest based health and wellness as well as proving the effects of forest based health and wellness, provides guidelines for scientific and rational arrangements of forest based health and wellness activities and theoretical basis for extended exploration of the health beneficiary functions of forest based health and wellness. This paper primarily researches and concludes the following:Using the forest environments of three typical topographies found in the Badaling National Forest Park in Beijing as study subjects, the study monitors environmental healthcare factors such as the concentration of negative oxygen ions in the forest, concentration of particulate matters and in-forest micro climates to gain results varying trends of negative oxygen ion concentrations whilst using methods such as correlation analysis, regression analysis and path analysis to analyze the relationship of negative oxygen ion concentration and environmental healthcare factors. The path analysis yielded the climate factors that can both directly and indirectly influence the concentration of negative oxygen ions in the air,and the regression analysis describes quantifiably their relative effects. The result shows;(I)At different topographies, the daily concentration of negative oxygen ion measured in single species forests varies;concentration of negative oxygen ion is highest in valleys and lowest on piedmonts.(2)On same topography but multi-species forests, the highest value of negative oxygen ion concentration occurs in a specific time period of the day.For both piedmont and valley that time period is between 15:00-16:00,for mountain ridges its between 11:00-12:00.(3)The concentration of negative oxygen ions in the air is also affected by relative environmental factors such as humidity, temperature, wind speed and PM2.5.As for single species forests on different topography,PM2.5 have the greatest effects on negative oxygen ion concentrations.(4)Indirect influential factor differs,in broad leafed forests in valleys, temperature and wind speed has the most proclaimed indirect effect towards negative oxygen ion concentrations with temperature having positive effects and wind speed having negative effects. In broad leafed forests on piedmonts, relative humidity and wind speed has the most profound indirect effects towards negative oxygen ion concentrations, with humidity having positive effects and wind speed having negative effects. In broad leafed forests on mountain ridges the greatest factor of indirect effect of negative oxygen ion concentration is temperature,of which is a positive effect.(5)Analysis on comfort levels on the sampling ground shows on both mountain ridges and valleys, comfort levels is highest in bushwood, while on piedmonts, comfort levels is highest in broad leafed forests.(6)Sound environment wise, the general fluctuation on sound stress measured in the sampling ground isn’t notable, almost a static condition.Normally, sound environment levels reach maximum levels between the time period of 10:30-14:00,generated mostly by insects, birds and wind.At Songshan, utilizing Profile of Mood States scale(POMS)targeted to anxious and extensive stressful young individuals as experiment subjects, using paired sample T tests and the Wilcoxon signed ranks test for quantitative analysis of the variations of the subject’s psychological index(Semantics Differential Scales(SD),State-Trait Anxiety Inventory(STAI)and Profile of Mood State Scales(POMS))and physical index(Heart Rate,Blood Pressure and Saliva Cortisols)after attending the short-term forest based health and wellness program experiments.Indicated results:Compared to prior the experiment, post experiment concentration levels of saliva cortisols shows significantly decrease an average of 21.4%,heart rate decrease an average of 9.93%,blood pressure also decreased notably an average of7.92%.As to the psychological index, post experiment data indicate that the subject’s experienced increase in positive emotions, negative emotions declined and weakened, the average decrease in anxiety is 12.3%.This proves the short-term forest healthcare program has significant positive feed-backs and remarkable effects on the subject’s physiological and psychological indexes, providing basis for future forest based health and wellness program studies. The given research results of this study provides guidelines for the scientific development of forest based health and wellness, including location selection of forest based health and wellness grounds using environmental healthcare factors, the improvements of forest based health and wellness courses, the empirical effects of forest based health and wellness, collective scientific and research results and the future development of forest based health and wellness. |
