The Establishment Of SOP On Feeding And Management Of Laboratory Animals In Barrier Facility And Production Of Matching Video Data

SOP(Standard Operating Procedure),as a standard document system for guiding and standardizing daily work,has been widely used in the field of laboratory animal science.A large number of high-quality standardized laboratory animals,especially rodent mice and rats,have begun to be mass produced and widely used.At the same time,barrier facilities have also been widely used as feeding conditions for mice and rats.However,SOP mainly focuses on animal experiment,SOP on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities is lacking or backwardness.After investigation,we found the following outstanding questions in the actual feeding and management work of laboratory animals in barrier facilities:non-standard operation,unstable animal quality and low level facilirty management.We can effectively solve the above problems by the way of the establishment of SOP on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities and use it for production management.Simultaneously,we also found the following outstanding questions in the laboratory animals practitioners training work which is very necessary:single boring training form,consuming a lot of resources and lack of video data.We can also effectively solve the above problems by the way of the production of matching video data on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities and use it for training.The main contents of this study are as follows:1.Establishment of SOP on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.It was done according to the SOP establishment process after an investigation of demand for the establishment of SOP,finding key control points for feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities,determining SOP key points,determining SOP content framework,writing SOP and other key steps.The SOP mainly focuses on following aspects:having scientific contents,being in line with the characteristics of barrier facilities and reflecting the production efficiency.2.Production of matching video data on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.It is based on text SOP.It was done according to the video data production process after an investigation of demand for the production of video data,finding key points of production,selecting text SOP,determining SOP content framework,writing the script,shooting video,and synthetic editing and other key steps.The video data mainly focuses on following aspects:keeping the content of video data consistent with the text SOP,showing the standard operations and comprehensive utilization of video,charts,photos,animation and other materials.Two results were obtained from the study.1.The SOP on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.It is correct after verification and effective to promote feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.Comparing the bacterial test results,after using SOP in barrier facilities,the positive sample rate is reduced:positive rate for Staphylococcus aureus decreased from 10.6%(34/320)to 1.6%(5/320),positive rate for Klebsiella pneumoniae decreased from 4.4%(14/320)to 0.9%(3/320).It is proved that SOP is effective in controlling animal quality.Comparing the production quantity,after using SOP in production of SD rats,the quantity is increased:number of SD rats population increases 100%,female SD rats production increases 50%,male rats production increases 200%,total rats production increases 125%.It is proved that SOP is effective in increasing animal quantity.2.The matching video data on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.The video data,as an extension and supplement to the text,is intuitive and vivid.It shows the operations of feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities.It is convenient and cost-effective that using video data with text SOP to train staff.In short,the SOP on feeding and management of laboratory animals in barrier facilities and matching video data,which can be widely used for management practice,have a good practical value and social benefits.They are obviously effective in controlling animal quality,increasing animal quantity and training staff.In addition,they also have a positive practical significance for guiding the personnel operation,increasing animal production,improving barrier facilities management,saving key technology,protecting animal welfare,perfecting the training system,strengthening personnel protection,etc.
