Pig conjunctivitis is a common disease of the pig. That is inflammation of conjunctival tissue caused by the joint action of external stimuli combined with the body's own factors.Although the impact of conjunctivitis on the pig's vision is not serious, when the inflammation spread to the cornea or cause complications,it will cause vision damage, even lead to the death of pigs.In this study, the growing-finishing pigs of five pig farms from five places in Hunan Province are diagnosed with pig conjunctivitis. The five farms are selected as the research site. One fattening house in each pig farm was randomly selected and all the fattening pig of the fattening house were regard as study subjects. The prevalence of the pigs were measured and serum samples were collected from diseased pigs. The pathogens in serum were detected by PCR.Pigs with pathogens were clinically examined to determine the diagnosis of porcine conjunctivitis. The results showed that the prevalence rates of farms A,B,C,D,E were 39.4%,24.8%,28%,23.3%and 35%,respectively.The total prevalence rate of pig conjunctivitis was 30.1%.Combined with analysis of the pathogenic test results, pig farm A,C's porcine conjunctivitis is mainly caused by the high concentration of ammonia.Pig farm D,E's porcine conjunctivitis is mainly caused by chlamydia, pig farm B's porcine conjunctivitis is mainly caused by swine fever pathogen. In order to prevent and control porcine conjunctivitis, according to the pathogenic causes of pig farms, combined with characteristics of the occurrence, prevalence, and distribution, for farm A and C,the concentration of ammonia in the piggery environment was improved by piggery environmental management, management of pigs and the biological safety management. The results showed that compared with the control group, the ammonia concentration in farm A and C decreased by 7?g/L-10?g/L,and the cure effect was significant. For farm D and E,firstly, doxycycline is determined as the most appropriate treatment through the drug sensitive test.Treatment methods included addition of doxycycline, glucose, vitamins in feed, and injection of ceftiofur sodium for severe symptoms of pigs.Th e cure rate of the method was 87.59%and 86.10%respectively,while the cure rate of the control group was only 17.99%and 16.16%.For farm B,the main way is to adjust the swine fever immunization programs for prevention and treatment.Through comparison testing, the average positive rate of swine fever increased from 69.25%to 90.75%after adjustment as the results showed, and the prevalence rate of swine fever decreased from 25.21%to 1.72%.The effects are notable. And according to the results of the survey,we made clinical diagnosis standard and comprehensive measures for prevention and control of pig conjunctivitis,in order to provide theoretical basis for effective prevention of pig conjunctivitis.
