Aloe vera is a perennial evergreen herb widely planted in southern China.Aloe polysaccharides,as one of the main components of aloe vera leaves, have many biological activities such as anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidative and anti-virus properties.Research has shown that aloe polysaccharides can inhibit the growth of harmful pathogens in the intestine without inhibiting most of the normal probiotics inherent in the intestine, thus stabilizing the balance of intestinal micro-ecological flora. For another, the addition of probiotics to poultry feed can increase feed conversion and increase poultry weight.Lactobacillus is one of the most commonly used strains in animal husbandry. And Lactobacillus plantarum is a kind of lactic acid bacteria(LAB).It enhances the immunity of animal organisms and prevents the invasion of pathogens. However, with the wide use of antibiotic growth promoters in recent years, antibiotic residues in animal feed have become increasingly serious. On this account, the use of other feed additives to replace antibiotic growth promoters has become one of the research focuses in recent years. The probiotic effects of aloe polysaccharides and Lactobacillus plantarum mixture are evaluated from both in vivo and in vitro perspectives to find a new path for the sound development of animal husbandry.Evaluation of the in vitro probiotic effects of aloe polysaccharides and Lactobacillus plantarum. The first step of this research is that the aloe polysaccharides were diluted in multiple proportions with MRS broth to different concentration gradients, with the same amount of Lactobacillus plantarum added. The astragalus polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum were used as positive controls to explore the proliferative effect of aloe polysaccharides on Lactobacillus plantarum.Exploration was made for the acid and bile-salt tolerant properties and characteristics of anti-pathogenic bacteria of aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum. The tolerance of artificial gastric juice and artificial intestinal juice were stimulated to observe its tolerance. Results showedthat when the concentration of aloe polysaccharides was 60mg/mL,the number of Lactobacillus plantarum increased significantly, and it could grow normally in the medium with pH5 and bile salt concentration of 0.1%.The number of viable counts in artificial stomach and intestinal juice was not significant after the 1-hour culturing.A decrease of about7% was seen after 1.5 h of culturing, and the anti-pathogenic effect was better than that of astragalus polysaccharides. So,in vitro results indicate that aloe polysaccharides and Lactobacillus plantarum have good probiotic effects, and can be further added to animal diets to explore their application effects.Effects of aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum on growth performance and immune performance of chicken.240 SPF 1-day-old chickens were randomized into 6 groups: Group I(aloe polysaccharides),Group II(astragalus polysaccharides),Group III(aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum),Group IV(astragalus polysaccharide combined with Lactobacillus plantarum),Group V(Lactobacillus plantarum),and Group VI(blank control group).Explorations were made for the effects of aloe polysaccharides and Lactobacillus plantarum on the growth performance and immune performance of chicken.Research found that the addition of Lactobacillus plantarum to aloe polysaccharides significantly increased the daily weight gain of chickens. It indicated that aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum could promote the growth of chickens. The number of E.coli in chicken intestines was counted by plate count. The content of sIg A in the small intestine was determined by indirect ELISA.Results showed that aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum could effectively reduce the number of harmful bacteria and protect the intestinal mucosal barrier;the significant increase of the immune organ index of chickens and the significant improvement of the conversion rate of serum interferon-?(IFN-?),interleukins 2(IL-2)and 4(IL-4)and T lymphocytes in serum indicated that the immune enhancement effect of aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum on chicken;in addition,Newcastle disease N79 vaccine was used to intranasally immunize the chickens, with the antibody titer determined. Results showed that aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum could significantly improve the immune effect of Newcastle disease N79 vaccine. Therefore, this research shows that aloe polysaccharides combined with Lactobacillus plantarum cansynergistically promote the growth performance and immune performance of chicken,in order to provide a new path for the development of new growth promoters.
