Sitotroga cerealella Olivier is a worldwide stored grain pest, also causing a great loss of grain in China.Nowadays searching for an environmentally friendly method to control Sitotroga cerealella has been a top priority since the chemical control methods are easy to cause the “3R” problem. In this paper,we studied the regulation of diallyl trisulfide on the reproductive ability of the male at the sublethal concentration(0.010 ?L/L),which mainly reflects through the reproductive behavior and changes in energy metabolism of females. The main findings are as follows: 1.Determination of sublethal concentration of DT fumigation and its effect on reproductive behavior of Sitotroga cerealellaThe sublethal concentration of diallyl trisulfide(abbreviated as DT)was determined as 0.010 ?L/L,which inhibited the number of eggs but did not affect the mating behavior(mating rate and mating frequency within 5 days). The mating behavior of the males treated with this concentration and of the females mated with them were observed. After the males successfully mated once, virgin females were introduced for re-mating.There were no significant differences in the mating rate, the mating times and the number of eggs between two groups. When mated with males treated with DT,the courtship rates, the re-mating rate and the re-mating times of the females were higher than the females mated with the CK males(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the number of eggs.2.Effect of DT fumigation treatment on energy metabolism of Sitotroga cerealellaResults showed that the relative expression of trehalase gene Treh, the activity of trehalase, the content of soluble total sugar, the content of total protein of the male, the content of soluble total sugar, and total protein of male internal genitalia were increased respectively after treated with 0.010 ?L/L allicin(P<0.05).But the content of glycogen and trehalose of the male were significantly lower than the control(P<0.05).After mating, the relative expression of the trehalase gene Treh, the activity of trehalase and trehalose content of DT males were not significantly different from the control. But the content of glycogen of the DT-treated group was significantly lower than the control while the content of total soluble sugar and protein were significantly higher than the control(P<0.05).The content of protein and soluble total sugar of the internal genitalia of the two kinds of males decreased significantly after mating, and the content of soluble total sugar of the DT-treated group was significantly higher than control(P<0.05),but the protein content of the DT was comparable to the control. The relative expression of Treh, the activity of trehalase of the females mated with the CK males were significantly higher than the virgin female(P<0.05),and the hydrolysis of the storage sugar was intensified. However, the relative expression of Treh, the activity of trehalase of the females mated with the DT males were only slightly higher than the virgin females(P>0.05).Although the hydrolysis of the storage sugar of them was higher than the virgin,it was weaker than the females mated with the CK males. Also, the content of glycogen and trehalose of the females mated with the DT males were significantly higher than the females mated with the CK males(P<0.05).Even if there was a large amount of storage sugar hydrolyzed to offset, the sugar consumption of females was strong because of the vigorous mating process.Whether mating with the DT males or the CK males, the content of soluble total sugar of the females didn't rise, only the protein increased slightly. The content of soluble total sugar and the protein of female internal genitalia after mating were significantly higher than that of the virgin female, and the content of the females mated with the DT males were significantly higher than that of the females mating with CK males(P < 0.05).
