Thrips is an insect group with important economic significance. Some pest thrips cause important losses to crops, vegetables and flowers.Visiting flower thrips have strong pollination ability.Fungi and predatory species can be used as resource insects. However, few studies have been reported on species diversity of thrips in Yakeshi,Inner Mongolia. The species and diversity of thrips in Yakeshi and its surrounding areas of Inner Mongolia were collected and identified for the first time in this paper. The specimens were mounted on a slide in Canada balsam.A key to the classification of adult thrips from Yakeshi was provided.A total of 20 species in 11 genera belonging to 3 families of the order Thysanoptera were documented from Yakeshi,Inner Mongolia China, including Rubiothrips chinensis sp.nov.,Rubiothrips,new record genus to China;Liothrips wasabiae and Haplothrips nipponicus, new record species to China;Aptinothrips karnyi and Haplothrips kurdjumovi, new record species to Inner Mongolia.A key to these genera and species was given.20 taxonomic figures of these species were illustrated.Fauna and Zoogeographical analyses indicated the genera Thrips,Haplothrips and Aeolothrips were the dominant genus.Geographic distributions of 7 genera were Cosmopolitan,4 genera were Holarctic.Rubiothrips chinensis sp.nov.is similar in structure to the description of R.galii Masumoto & Okajima(2017),but can be distinguished by:(1)the pronotum of the new species with faint granular reticulations in median part(Fig.5),but only with transverse anastomosing striae in galii;(2)antennal segment III brown in the new species(Fig.3),whereas yellowish in galii;(3)head dorsal surface sculptured with transverse reticulations and cheeks gradually widened to the base in the new species,in contrast to head with anastomosing striae dorsally and cheeks rounded in galii. The holotype is deposited in the Insect Collection of Jilin University(JLU).Surveys of thrips in different plant were conducted in Yakeshi city of Inner Mongolia.A total of 2690 individuals of thrips were collected, which belonging to 20 species in 11 genera under 3 families. The family Thripidae was richest, including 8 genera 12 species.Frankliniella intonsa represented 79% of all individuals, the species of the Thrips and the Haplothrips are the most abundant genus, collecting 3 species, respectviely. The individuals of the ordinary groups including Thrips flavus(1.9%),Thrips hukkineni(1.1%),Aeolothrips fasciatus(1.3%),Aptinothrips stylifer(7.8%),Anaphothrips obscures(1.8%)and Haplothrips chinensis(1%).The number of rare species is 13.
