Hedychium coronarium,a perennial herb belonging to the the family Zingiberaceae,is commonly used as cut flowers and landscaping plants which has 1-2meters height,fringy inflorescence and high amount of flower production.Among them,H.coronarium enjoys great popularity because of its butterfly-like flower type,rich pure white flowers and intense fragrance.Meanwhile the hybrid cultivar?H.gardnerianum?has the high ornamental value due to its bright color of flowers and tightly inflorescence type.In order to breed new Hedychium varieties and explore the inheritance of ornamental characters and volatile aroma components in cross breeding,the study mainly research the hybrid group plants between white and golden Ginger flower as well as the back crossing group between white Ginger flower and its hybrid offspring?Jinyun?series.By measuring experimental datas and establishing the evaluation system upon the different groups,it further provide a guidance to explore the genetic development of Ginger flower of the important agronomic and ornamental traits.The main results are as follows:1.By analysis the main the difference of agronomic traits among the back cross group?BC1?.there were strong variability including the plant height,leaf length,leaf width,the number of bracts,corolla tube length,lip length,lip cleft degree and the length of filaments.The variation coefficient was higher.The variation coefficient of the number of bracts and lip cleft were 33.08%,25.35%in the group BC1.Among the group BC1-2,the variation coefficient was higher in the agronomic traits of leaf width,bracts number and corolla tube length which were 14.34%,17.30%and 14.05%,respectively.2.By analyzing the correlation of main agronomic traits in BC 1,there were significant positive correlation in plant height with leaf length,leaf width and the length of the lip;leaf length with leaf width,leaf number,the number of bracts,inflorescence length and lip petal length;leaf number with the number of bracts,inflorescence length,lip petal length and lip petal width.In addition to lip cleft degree positively correlated with stem diameter,inflorescence length,but the plant height,leaf width,leaf length,leaf number,the number of bracts,inflorescence width,length of corolla tube,lip length,lip width and length of filaments showed negative correlation with lip cleft degree.3.The qualitative and quantitative of volatile compounds among the parents of cross,excellent individual plants of F1 and the back cross group were identify by gas chromatography mass spectrometry?GC-MS?method.Alpha pinene and Ocimene showed a continuous variation among the offspring of individuals,existing the genetic characteristics of quantitative traits as well.But Benzoic acid Methyl ester,Myrcene,and beta Farnesene show a different pattern which was separated in the offspring,and some genetic separation ratio was about 1:3;Eucalyptol and Linalool in the offspring is higher than the parental mean,and has additive effect in genetic.4.By using electronic nose and sensory evaluation,fragrance level in the parents of cross and the offspring of individuals were classify.The results show that H.coronarium flower is fragrant and rich,which is named as comprehensive fragrant type 1;H.gardnerianum flower was lighter fragrant series,which was named as comprehensive fragrant type 4.During the group in H.coronarium and H.gardnerianum ginger flowers cross excellent individual plants of F1,fragrant type 1-4 possess 13.3%,60%,13.3%,13.3%.when H.coronariumwas chosen the male parent,the type 2 is 40.9%and type 3 is59.1%in the group BC1-1,while it was chosen as female parent then the type 1 is 7.6%,type2 is 69.3%and type 3 was 23.1%in the group BC1-2.By choosing H.coronarium as the female parent for back cross,we More fragrant type individuals could be gained among the hybrid group.5.By measuring experimental datas and establishing the evaluation system upon the different groups,An evaluation on ornamental characteristic among the male,female and a variety of hybrid group were conducted.Some excellent comprehensive characters of hybrid offsprings were selected,which were named as Jinyun 001,Jinyun 018,Jinyun 024,Baiyun 012,Baiyun 037,Baiyun 041,Baiyun 043.
