Sugarcane was the economic and energy crops,the area of planting sugarcaneranked 3rd in China.However,relatively low level of mechanization,especially the machine in harvest link,did not reach to 1%.The cutting quality wasone of the important evaluation indexes of the performance in cut-section sugarcane harvester.Some problems came out such as cane debris and burst cut whenchopper rollers cut sugarcane,which caused weight loss,the loss of sugar cane juice and dextran to produce more,which increased the sugarcane loss in the field and production cost.In the paper,the influence of the position relation between the cutter blades on the cutting quality was studied,which had a certain guiding significance to adjust the chopper rollers.This paper took the influence of the position relation between the cutter blades on the cutting qualityas the object of study,using simulation software to study the process of paired-blades cutting sugarcane,thatwas recorded with a high speed camera in 1280 * 800 resolution with the rate of 2000 FPS.Mechanical analysis was carried out different states of sugarcane in the cutting process.The effect of paired blade spacing was studied on the debris cutting process and the axial height between incisions.Using PRO E5.0 to build simple models of chopper rollers cutting sugarcane,models were modified in the HYPERMESH,and the model was meshed and loaded,then using ANSYSto solve the result,finally using graphics of post processor in LSDYNA to display the result.The test of cutting effect was carried out on test bench of cutting mechanism in4GDL-132 Billet Combine Harvester,using Phantom M310,the high speed camerathe Vision Research produced in the USA.The results showed:(1)There were some debris and the loss of sugarcane juice during the cutting process.(2)Under the experimental conditions,the diameter of the sugarcane has some influence on the quality of the incision.The diameter was larger,the difference of the axial height between incisions was also larger.(3)When the length of paired-blades was 6mm,the quality of the incision was best.The sugarcane loss amount of per incision was 0.23 gram and axial height difference was 8.2 mm.(4)The cutting effect was obviously not the same among single layer,two layers and three layers of sugarcane.When the cutting knife roller cut single layersugarcane,the obvious extrusion did not appear between inclined planes of blades;When cutting two layers of sugarcane,inclined planes had obvious effect on extrusion segments;When cutting three layer of sugarcane,besides obvious extrusion,the sugarcane skin near the incision also had obvious peeling-effect from the sugarcane section.(5)The process of pairing blades cutting sugarcane could be divided into four stages: Preparation for cutting;One bladecutting sugarcane;Two blades cutting sugarcane;Post-cutting.The first two stages were good cutting,while the after two stages were bad cutting.
