The paddy weed barnyardgrass is one of the most serious weeds worldwide.Barnyardgrass is tolerance to various environmental stresses, especially for salt tolerance, which is considered to be helpful for improvements of saline soil.Compared with rice, bamyardgrass possesses the similar morphological characteristics,as well as growing periods and the nutrient requirement.Unraveling mechanisms of salt tolerance mechanisms in barnyardgrass will provide theoretical basis for rice breeding with salt-tolerance.In this study,we performed salt(NaCl)treatment for barnyardgrass and rice, observed their morphological characteristics and measured concentration of Na~+ and K~+.Furthermore,we identified and analyzed the salt related genes in bamyardgrass using the sequenced and annotated bamyardgrass genome by our labor. The main findings are as follows:1.The paddy weed barnyardgrass has strong ability to resist salt stress compared to rice.Barnyardgrass can keep water content well under salt stress.2.The paddy weed barnyardgrass has high content of K+ and K+ to Na+ ratio compared to rice.We observed high concentration of Na+ in roots, which may efficiently prevent the transport of Na+ to shoots in bamyardgrass under salt stress.3.Genes related to salt tolerance were expanded in barnyardgrass genome compared to rice genome. We identified ion transport genes including Na+ and K+transporter and transcription factors including NAC and soon on.Dose effect of these genes may play critical roles in salt tolerance in bamyardgrass.
