Theileria sergenti was also known as Theileria orientalis, which parasites in bovine cells and causes blood protozoa disease.Anaplasma phagocytephilum mainly infects mature or immature myeloid leukocytes. The two kinds of pathogen are tick-transmitted.T.orientalis parasitize is widely distributed in the world.T.orientalis is widespread and very popular in China, such as Guizhou,Gansu,Shanxi,Qinghai,Hebei,Liaoning,Jilin region. The main clinical symptoms of the disease are high fever, anemia, bleeding, jaundice, surface lymph nodes, weight loss and acute death.A.phagocytephilum are pathogenic to humans and animals, and they infect the neutrophils thus induce inflammatory responses. The main clinical features of the disease are fever, with leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and organ dysfunction. The two kinds of pathogens are transmitted by ticks, they mainly infected grazing herds, feeding cattle are less infected and have obvious seasonal characteristic.May and June are the most frequent ticks of the season, with cattle showing disease symptoms after two months later. Both pathogens are highly infectious to cattle and have a great deal of harm to cattle, which has a serious impact on our livestock industry. In order to further understand the epidemic situation of the T.orientalis and A.phagocytephilum in Jilin Province, total 103 cattle blood samples were collected from Taonan,Songyuan and Hunchun areas in Jilin Province. And those samples were detected by PCR and nested-PCR respectively to detect the T.orientalis and A.Phagocytephilum infection in cattle. In the study, the results showed that the infection rate of T.orientalis in Taonan,Songyuan and Hunchun were 8.7%?12.5%and 92.5%,respectively.The infection rate of A.phagocytephilum in Taonan,Songyuan and Hunchun were 0?7.5%and 12.5%,respectively.To our knowledge, this is the first report of T.orientalis investigation in cattle in Taonan and Songyuan areas, and this is also the first report of A.Phagocytephilum investigation in cattle in Hunchun and Songyuan areas. The results provided an effective epidemiological basis for the control and prevention of T.orientalis disease and A.phagocytephilum disease in Jilin province.
