Secale cereale subsp.segetale,a ubiquitou annual,cross-pollination,and found in the Xinjiang region of China is a subspecies of cultivated rye.The average plant height is about 100 cm,the leaves, anthers, and wheat ears are longer, with more tillers than wheat.S.cereale subsp.segetale has strong resistance and adaptability that can be used as wheat germplasm resources in genetic improvement. The following studies have been conducted on the many advantages of S.cereale subsp.segetale:1.To screen for superior traits(genes),excavate excellent germplasm resources, conducting a survey of agronomic traits such as plant height, tiller number, panicle length, panicle width, number of spikelets per spike, number of main stems,1000-grain weight, etc.of S.cereale subsp.segetale.The results of the test survey and comprehensive evaluation showed that there were significant differences in agronomic traits among the groups, and the variation was abundant. The performance of S.cereale subsp.segetale in terms of panicle number, panicle width, panicle length, number of panicles, number of spikelets, and grain weight was better than that of S.cereale L.Different materials had their own excellent traits, and the distribution of agronomic traits in the population was diversity. For example,Z1670 had good biological traits;89R20 had high production traits, the number of tillers was as much as 71.17;89R41 had better yield, the thousand grain weighted 31.06 g.The comprehensive agronomic traits of S.cereale subsp.Segetale 89R41,90R18 and90R20 were superior to those of S.cereale L.It was a relatively stable material in the group.By correlating the agronomic traits, the panicle width and plant height were significant positive correlation factors affecting the thousand grain weight, and in production,it cound be promoted through fertilizer and water measures to increase the plant height. These materds were divided into three categories by clustering analysis, and it was found that S.cereale subsp.segetale and Secale africanum and Wugong rye were divided into one category, indicating that S.cereale subsp.segetalepopulations were closer to the two Secale populations in terms of agronomic traits.2.In order to obtain a salt-tolerant material, the morphological characteristics and physiology at the seedling stage of S.cereale L.,Segetale cereale subsp.segetale and salt-tolerant wheat(Cangmai 6001,Cangmai 6002,Cangmai 6005,and Jimai 32)were studied by pot experiment. The indicators were identified and treated at a concentration of 40% seawater. The results showed that the relative electrical conductivity, chlorophyll a content, and chlorophyll content of the materials were significantly different, further demonstrated the use of 40% seawater for S.cereale subsp.segetale and S.cereale L.The identification of salt tolerance at seedling stage was applicable. The salt-tolerant materials screened out by the membership function evaluation method and principal component analysis were Z1650,and 89R64,89R47,89R54,89R16,89R6,90R27 six salt-tolerant S.cereale subsp.segetale.The materials were all more salt-tolerant than the recognized Grade 2 salt-tolerant wheat,Jimai 32.The most salt-tolerant material was Z1650,which was even more salt-tolerant than the salt-tolerant control material,Cangmai 6005.The final selected salt-tolerant materials were Z1650,89R64,89R47,89R54,89R16,89R6,and 90R27,which were more salt-tolerant than Jimai 32 that is generally regarded as salt-tolerant,The 50 test materials were classified according to their salt tolerance, and they can be divided into 3 categories at European distance of 15.These materials could be used in the field tests and salt tolerance genetic resources study for the wheat salt tolerance breeding, and provide a way to make full use of the saline resources in future.
