Plants recruit innate immune receptors such as leucine-rich repeat(LRR)proteins to recognize pathogen attack and activate defense genes. Here,we identified a pepper{Capsicum annuum)LRR protein,CaLRR51,a novel regulator that can enhance the resistance to Ralstonia solanacearum.CaLRR51 is upregulated by R.solanacearum inoculation and by application of exogenous salicylic acid(SA),jasmonic acid(JA),ethylene(ET),or abscisic acid(ABA).Overexpression of CaLRR51 increased resistance to R.solanacearum in inoculated leaves.However,CaLRR51-silenced pepper plants display not significant difference compared with the control pepper plants. We identified the pepper(Capsicum annuum)CaM-like protein 15(CaCML15)as a leucine-rich repeat protein51(LRR51)-interacting partner.Bimolecular fluorescence complementation confirmed the specific interaction between LRR51 and CML15 in planta.CaCML15 is also upregulated by R.solanacearum inoculation and by application of exogenous jasmonic acid(JA),ethylene(ET),or abscisic acid(ABA).And,CaCML15 may be as a positive regulator to the CaLRR51 in the hypersensitive response in pepper leaves.
