Coliadinae is a large subfamily in Pieridae(Lepidoptera). There are 12 genera and 250 species known in the world,of which 6 genera and 56 species are from China. The male reproductive system of the subfamily from China was studied in this paper, which includes the history and presents resume of both domestic and abroad, morphological characters of male reproductive system. The difference in reproductive system among genera and species was compared, and the anatomical photos were provided. The function and value of testes, seminal vesicles, vas deferens, ductus ejaculatorius duplex and valvae, juxta, aedeagus and accessory structure and their use in phylogeny and the formation of a spermatophore were discussed as well. The morphology on male reproductive system of Coliadinae is so limited that it does not supported species identification and phylogeny analysis. The male genitalia of 17 species from 6 genera and the internal reproductive organs of 12 species from 5 genera of the Coliadinae were dissected and summarized,in an attempt to provide new evidence for phylogeny. Conclusions are as follows:1.The male reproductive system includes internal reproductive organ and male genitalia. The size and shape of male reproductive system is relate to the development of male adults. The internal reproductive organs are composed of testes,a pair of seminal vesicles,a couple of vas deferens, two ductus ejaculatorius duplexes,a pair of accessory glands and a ductus ejaculatorius simplex. The two testicular follicles are without tracheoles and closely united as a single organ enclosed in a common translucent scrotum, the ductus ejaculatorius simplex is relatively long and can be divided into four sections:The first section was slightly thin, translucent or white;the second section was slightly thick, translucent to buff;the third section was relatively coarse and milky, always shrunk and joined with the fourth section;the fourth section has a curved swelling. The external genitalia consist of valvae, aedeagus, juxta, ring and accessory structure.2.The morphological difference of male reproductive system among genera were obvious, mainly showing in testes, vas deferens, ductus ejaculatorius duplex, valvae, aedeagus and so on,which can be used in identification and phylogenetic analysis.3.The morphological differences of male reproductive systems among species is not obvious except among species of Catopsilia,so it is unsuitable for revealing the relationship among species, which needs further study.4.The phylogeny based on reproductive system of this subfamily shows that Eurema was the primitive genus of Coliadinae;Gonepteryx was the sister group with Dercas;Colias and Catopsilia were sister groups.
