| Melolonthinae is a subfamily of Scarabaeidae, which belongs to Coleoptera, Polyphaga, Scarabaeoidea. The beetles of Melolonthinae are worldwide distributed, feeding on a variety of plants, many of which are important economic pests. The taxonomy of Melolonthinae from Northeast China is overall studied for the first time in this thesis, mainly based on morphological characters, especially on male genitalia. In this thesis, it revised 20 genera and 65 species of Melolonthinae from Northeast China: one species of Amphimallon, three of Apogonia, nine of Brahmina, one of Diphycerus, one of Ectinohoplia, two of Gastroserica, one of Hilyotrogus, ten of Holotrichia, five of Hoplia, three of Lasiopsis, eight of Maladera, six of Melolontha, three of Miridiba, one of Nipponoserica, one of Polyphylla, two of Pseudosymmachia, three of Serica, three of Sericania, one of Sophrops and one of Trematodes. Serica polita (Gebler,1832) is recorded from China for the first time. Maladera furcillata (Brenske,1897) and Maladera renardi (Ballion,1870) are recorded from Liaoning province for the first time. Maladera verticalis (Fairmaire,1888) and Brahmina agnella (Faldermann,1835) are recorded from Inner Mongolia for the first time. Brahmina rubetra (Faldermann,1835) is recorded from Gansu province for the first time.A key to species of Melolonthinae in Northeast China is provided. Meanwhile, the scientific names of nine species, which incorrectly arose in many domestic literatures, are remarked, while some questionable distributions of some species are discussed. All the above species have citations and distributions with them.48 species with specimens collected and examined have their external characters and male genitalia described and the information of the examined specimens listed. The male genitalia of 45 species are photoed. |
