As the skeleton structure of the city,the traffic network is the carrier of daily travel and internal communication between residents and the city,which guarantees the production and life of residents and the orderly operation of the city.However,with the explosive growth of motorization,traffic problems,especially traffic congestion,are becoming more and more serious,which seriously threatens the lives of residents,pollutes the urban environment,and restricts the harmonious development of cities.The contradiction between the rapid growth of urban traffic flow and the slow construction of urban basic road facilities leads to the unbalanced development of traffic network,which further leads to traffic congestion.Complex network theory is an effective method to solve this problem.The detection of traffic network structure based on complex network theory is of great significance to discover the key structure of traffic network and the internal mechanism of traffic flow.In addition,the dynamic changes of the traffic network can reflect the spatial-temporal characteristics of traffic congestion.By exploring the spatiotemporal distribution and evolution of congestion,it can provide better reference for residents’ travel planning and traffic guidance,so as to effectively reduce congestion.In summary,the detection of traffic network structure and the spatiotemporal analysis of traffic congestion based on complex netowork are of great significance for solving urban traffic congestion problems.In this paper,we use Wuhan’s taxi trajectory data and road data as data sources to comprehensively build Wuhan’s traffic network by integrating road attributes and dynamic traffic flow.Then,based on the mature index system of complex network,we identify the performance,functions,and key structures of the traffic network,and detect their evolution at different times and on different dates.Finally,we excavate the spatiotemporal distribution pattern of congestion based on the network time sequence analysis,and discover the spatiotemporal influence scope and key roads of congestion by exploring the diffusion process of congestion events.The main research work of this paper is as follows:(1)Research on the construction of urban traffic networkUrban traffic network is a comprehensive concept.To model the traffic network comprehensively,we should not only consider the connection between roads and the functional properties of roads such as length and width,but also incorporate dynamic traffic parameters such as flow and speed.Therefore,in this paper,we construct four network models from different levels,namely static topology network,static function network,dynamic flow network,and dynamic traffic state network.(2)Structural identification and dynamic evolution analysis of traffic networkRecognizing the structure of network is the key to understanding the inner and function of the network.Therefore,from the perspective of network efficiency,connectivity performance and key structures,we separately identify the performance and structure of static traffic networks and dynamic traffic networks.Then,for the dynamic traffic network,due to the influence of real-time traffic flow,the network structure is different at different times,so we make a comparative analysis of the dynamic network structure at different times and different dates,to find its spatiotemporal distribution pattern.(3)Spatiotemporal distribution and evolution analysis of traffic congestionTraffic congestion has obvious spatiotemporal characteristics.In order to explore the spatiotemporal distribution and evolution of traffic congestion,a variety of congestion patterns are firstly detected based on the time-series analysis method,and the temporal,spatial and road characteristics of the congestion patterns are analyzed to discover their spatiotemporal distribution rules.Secondly,through the definition and identification of congestion events and their evolution,the time influence range,spatial spread range,and diffusion path of congestion events are discovered,and the key roads and causes of congestion are explored.In summary,we take complex network and spatiotemporal analysis as research method to preliminarily investigate the structural identification of traffic network and the spatiotemporal evolution of congestion in Wuhan,aiming to provide reference for residents’ travel and traffic guidance,and to provide decision support for traffic management and urban planning departments.
