Hazard perception is the ability of a driver to recognize potential dangers on the road and respond appropriately. This hazard leads to an increased likelihood of collisions. However, some young drivers tend to overestimate their Hazard perception ability, and their self-assessed Hazard perception ability cannot reflect their performance on the Hazard perception test.In addition, previous studies have concluded that the self-assessment scores of the driver’s Hazard perception ability and the performance of the Hazard perception test are inconsistent, and do not reveal the characteristics of the Hazard perception ability of young drivers with learners licenses. In order to solve the above problems, the following two studies were carried out in this study:In Study 1,we compared the scores of the self-assessment scale of Hazard perception ability with the performance measurement of their Hazard perception test to see whether the assessment of young drivers’ Hazard perception ability was accurate. In this study,46 learners,48 novice drivers and 42 experienced drivers were tested with real traffic situation video. There are two types of hazard in the test video: behavioral predictive hazard and environmental predictive risk.In the experiment, subjects were required to click the D key on the keyboard when they saw the danger in the video, and if they did not see the danger, they were required to click the J key on the keyboard.Record the hit rate and false alarm rate of the subjects, and calculate the sensitivity and judgment standard of the subjects according to these data.In the second study,on the basis of the first study, the subjects who overestimated their skills were given intervention training. In order to improve the accuracy of self-assessment of their Hazard perception ability, and then improve their driving safety. In this study,52 subjects participated in the experiment, including 26 learners and 26 novices drives. The basic information of the subjects is the same as that of the study. This study draws the following conclusions:(1)There is a dominant effect of driving experience on the Hazard perception ability of young drivers. The Hazard perception ability of young experienced drivers is better than that of novices and learners. They have high hit rate, high sensitivity and loose judgment standard.(2)The impact of driving experience on young drivers’ perception of danger varies with different types of danger. When faced with environmental predictive danger, the hit rate and sensitivity of novice and novice drivers are lower than that of experienced drivers, and the judgment standard is more strict.(3)The ability of Hazard perception in low group is higher than that in high group, which shows that there is inconsistency between subjective assessment and objective measurement of drivers, mainly in novices and learners, who have self-improvement bias on their own Hazard perception ability.(4)Feedback intervention can improve the Hazard perception ability of young drivers. After intervention, the hit rate and sensitivity of the subjects were significantly higher than those in the pre intervention group, and the judgment standard was lower than that in the non intervention group. The effect of intervention training is similar to that of novice drivers.
