The complex and bad environment in the space increased the probability of the digital circuits to become breakdown and if the fault occurred,it is difficult for manual maintenance even impossible.The bio-inspired electronic arrays(BIEAs)have the abilities of self-organization and self-repairing.The research and application of BIEAs provide a possible solution for the problem mentioned above and it is significant in improving the reliability of digital circuits.As the premise and basis of self-repairing,the fault detection is necessary to be finished before the BIEAs come to application.As a result,this paper focuses on the fault detection of BIEAs and a fault detection method based on cell mutual detection(CMD)method is proposed with reference to the built-in self-test(BIST).On that basis,the structure of BIEAs is modified.The detailed contents of this paper is as follows:(1)With reference to BIST and take the structure feature of BIEAs into consideration,a fault detection method based on CMD is raised.This method utilize the same structure shared by all the cells and detect faults by comparing the outputs of all the cells when giving them the same test vector as input under testing mode.(2)The producing algorithm of test vectors is improved and the producing algorithms based on minimum time and minimum hardware consumption are proposed respectively.A simple example is given to prove the feasibility of the improved algorithms.(3)Based on CMD method,the structure of BIEAs is modified,which ensures that the CMD method can be realized.The modifications include the detection module,configuration module,function module and control module,and linear feedback shift register is added to the array as the test vector generator.(4)Using FIR filter as experimental subject,design and realize a FIR bio-inspired electronic array that can carry out CMD in FPGA.The function of the BIEA filter and the feasibility of the fault detection method based on CMD method is verified through simulation and experiment.
