In China, the phenomenon of following the crowd to cross the street at the intersections is prominent.Chinese red light running is the most common and frequent urban traffic violations. At present, most of the research on the influencing factors of red light running behavior is based on personal characteristics, traffic and road environment, rarely considering the impact of the number of people running red light on the crossing behavior.According to this, this paper selects the video materials of Dalian typical signal intersection to explore the impact of pedestrian number on the behavior of running red light. The study is divided into two parts:Research 1: The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of the number of pedestrians on the behavior of university students running red lights. The experimental design of 2 × 4 subjects is adopted. The independent variables in the group are the risk period(low-risk period,high-risk period),the number of pedestrians in the video material(no one, single person,2-5 people,a group of people),and the dependent variables are the number of running red lights and the safe time for running red lights,The key click rate and reaction time are used as indicators respectively. The results show that: the number of pedestrians and the risk period have an interactive effect on the red light running rate of college students. In the low risk period, there is a significant difference in the red light running rate of College Students under different pedestrian numbers. The red light running rate is the highest under the condition of a group of people, and the lowest under the condition of single person. In the high-risk period, there is a significant difference in the number of pedestrians, and the red light running rate is the highest under the condition of single person. There is a positive correlation between illegal behaviors and the rate of running a red light.Research 2: Study 2 attempts to further explore the visual attention mechanism of university students’ red light running behavior under different pedestrian numbers and different risk periods. The experiment was designed by 2 × 2 subjects and 2 ×3 × 3 three factors subjects. The experimental design of 2 × 2 subjects was unmanned. The independent variables in the group were risk period(low-risk period,high-risk period)and eye movement interest area(vehicle, signal lamp).Theexperimental design of 2 × 3 × 3 three factor subjects, the independent variables in the group are the risk time period(low risk time period, high risk time period),the eye movement interest area(vehicle, signal light, pedestrian),the number of pedestrians(single person, two to five people,a group of people),the dependent variable is the total fixation time of the three interest areas of vehicle, pedestrian and signal light in the process of university students running the red light. The results show that: the rate of university students running red light is negatively related to the total fixation time of signal light, and positively related to the total fixation time of vehicles;in different risk periods, the visual attention mode of university students crossing the street is also significantly different. In low risk periods, university students running red light pay attention to pedestrians,in high and low risk periods, university students running red light pay attention to vehicles and signal lights.Based on the above two studies, this study draws the following conclusions:1)In the low-risk period, the rate of pedestrians running the red light increases with the increase of the number of people, and pedestrians pay more attention to pedestrians when they do the behavior of running the red light.2)Whether it is the following crossing behavior under low risk or the crossing behavior after assessing the road risk under high risk, these red light running behaviors are all illegal behaviors due to the weak legal awareness.3)The stronger the tendency of illegal behavior is,the less the attention time to the signal light is.Especially in the high-risk condition, college students will take the distance between vehicles and the signal light as the decision-making information source, reserve safe crossing time for themselves by evaluating the distance between vehicles, and then make the behavior of running the red light.
