Supersonic swirling separation is a multi-component gas condensation separation method which combines cyclone separation technology with condensation separation technology.With the advantages of its simple process,good stability,high efficiency and low energy consumption,it has become a new separation technology with great application value and commercial prospects in the last 20 years.In this paper,the condensation and separation characteristics of supersonic swirling separator were studied by means of numerical simulation and experimental research.The main works are as follows:Aiming at the study of supersonic condensation characteristics,the Eulerian two-phase condensation CFD model is established which is validated by the experimental data.Then,the self-excited oscillation characteristics of supersonic swirling condensation,including the periodic pressure distribution,the frequency and amplitude characteristics of pressure fluctuation and the condensation phase change at the core region and boundary layer were studied in detail.Finally,the pressure distribution and dynamic characteristics of self-excited oscillation under different temperature,pressure and humidity conditions were investigated experimentally,and the results were compared with those of quasi-two-dimensional numerical simulation.For the study of supersonic separation characteristics,the Eulerian two-phase condensation slip model considering the velocity and drag between gas and liquid phases was established.Then,the influence of several important parts of supersonic swirling separator,including the blade profile of the cyclone generator,the profile of the nozzle section and the size of the separation section,on flow characteristics were obtained,and then the geometries of the separator were optimized.Through the CFD simulation,the tangential velocity distribution,homogeneous condensation nucleation rate,droplet number density and packing density distributions of discrete phase in the separator were studied.Finally,several experiments of supersonic separation were carried out to analyze the effects of inlet temperature,humidity and pressure on the dew drop,pressure loss ratio and separation coefficient of the supersonic separator.It found that the separation coefficient of this supersonic swirling separator is 1.48 at the pressure loss ratio of 0.33,which means this supersonic swirling separator has good separation characteristics at small pressure loss condition.
